Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use this kit for food photography?

The kit is EXACTLY what I was looking for when it came to food photography.

Is this a sepia photograph or a white photograph?

White that is cool: ) br>Excellent product; I own two. I like how it takes photos that are seamless.

What advice would you give for photographing longer items, such as those up to 18 inches long? Is it possible to turn the base sideways at 20 inches?

Although the base can be turned sideways, you might want to get the larger version because the lighting won't be as good on something that long. Either that, or invest in a second light bar. I hope this information is useful.

Is it possible to use this product to take a photo of an overlooking shot (90 degrees downward)?

I'd say it's a case-by-case basis. If you're using the kit's light, there's a metal piece about 13" long that you can use to reflect/ diffuse any ambient light. If you're not using the light, you're wasting your money. If that's the case, I'd say yes.

This is a great place to start
4/5

First and foremost - This isn't a Bogen-type of situation. Manfrotto is a company that specializes in photography. On the other hand - It's not even close to being $600. br>I'm a graphic designer who shoots a lot of his own photos, to the point where I've designed and built a couple of product-imaging studios for big-name brands (watches with a Scandinavian theme, hint, hint - for one). For a few thousand product shots, I bought, set up, and used Bogen tables and lighting, which are "industry standard. " This little corner and light are on par with the "professional" stuff for over 90 of the things I've shot for over 90 of the things I've shot for over 90 of the% br>br>Excellent packaging and prompt delivery. Take a look at the assembly instructions - However, it is very easy to put together and is very sturdy once completed. This kit is an excellent place to start - However, you'll "need" a few more pieces before long. br>br>This size is ideal for items measuring up to 12" square. br>br>Take a look at the video - it's worth it. If you've never shot with an infinite wall or table, you'll find it extremely useful. br>A tripod is a must-have. It's pointless to light a product to perfection. After that, I messed it up by shooting it handheld and shakey. br>Experiment first before attempting "production" shots - Some basic lighting and posing concepts are easier to grasp when you do it yourself and "play. " Find some photos on the internet or in magazines that you want to copy - and attempt to replicate them with your own products br>Some additional lighting will be required - Brighten your shots by bouncing a large diffuse light off the back, behind the product. To bring out highlights in your product, try bouncing light onto specific parts of it. The bounce cards that come with the package are fully functional. br>However, the main point is - Simply engage in some fun. You will not make great shots on your first, or even 50th, attempt. However, if you continue to try new things (and spend some time on YouTube) - Before you know it, you'll be taking pro-quality photos. br>br>One thing to keep in mind when you're frustrated with the process (which you will be): Nowadays, the majority of product photography work is done in Photoshop, where you composite a series of shots, each capturing a different aspect of the product as you want it. A watch photo would take ten minutes to pose and ten minutes to photograph - Each with its own lighting and highlighting, and an hour spent in Photoshop piecing it all together.

MyStudio and LimoStudio are two different types of studio software
5/5

If you're looking for tabletop photo kits, you've probably seen the LimoStudio setup and thought $32-$34 is a lot of money. When compared to $179 for the MyStudio kit, 57 (depending on how many lights are included) is a great deal. Both the MS20 and the 4-pack have been purchased by me. I'll show you how they match up with my light LimoStudio kit. br>br>The MyStudio setup allows you to create a much better product image in a much shorter amount of time, whereas the LimoStudio images required a lot of color correction and exposure compensation, as well as a lot of time dodging the background to achieve anything close to an even white. br>br>I use a Nikon D3200 and even after spending a lot of time manually adjusting the white balance and ISO, I couldn't get the quality br>br>Depending on the kit you purchase, the LimoStudio uses two or four lights. In my case, four lights were insufficient to provide adequate illumination - It's also nearly impossible to align the lights in such a way that they provide even illumination without creating hot spots. The MyStudio MS20, on the other hand, uses a single light source that is evenly reflected. The MS20 comes with an instructional DVD with helpful product photography tips, whereas the LimoStudio leaves you on your own. br>br>Using the LimoStudio, you'll need to spend a lot of time manipulating files in Adobe Lightshop and Photoshop to get image quality that comes close to that of the MyStudio. I would skip the LimoStudio entirely if you are unwilling or unable to do so. br>br>It's a case of "you get what you pay for. " You can save money by using the LimoStudio, but you'll waste hours trying to make your images look good.

The 5000K Fluorescent Bulb in my Studio MS20
5/5

I've tried a few different systems and have yet to find a light setup that is both functional and reasonably priced that will help me improve my product photography. So far, that is. The My Studio MS20 with the 5000K fluorescent bulb is ideal for small to medium-sized objects. It creates a wonderful lighting environment that highlights and naturally enhances the realistic colors of the objects I'm photographing. What more could you want from a product that performs admirably, is well-built, and is reasonably priced? This is it if you're looking for a great photo lighting setup for product shots or Instagram EDC (Every Day Carry) shots. Pick up the My Studio MS20 as soon as possible and don't look back. FIVE STARS for a fantastic product!.
