I also feel more durable with the S2. This enclosure won't budge even when I put my Godox AD360 and Streaklight 360 in it along with a 60" ocotobox or a 7' parabolic umbrella with diffusion on the front. It also allowed me to use much smaller modifiers, and I felt much more comfortable using it when it comes to holding my lights than I did with the old S1 version. It is my fourth of these right now and I use my older ones for light work.
Compared with the old version, the new one is much better. There are no more stops or clicks in between the pitch adjustments because the locking mechanism that adjusts the pitch is made of metal instead of plastic, and that way it folds up smaller. Basically it just seems to be better built and appears to be more refined. The biggest advantage is compatibility with round head flashes, whether they are v1 or ad200 with round heads. That alone made me buy the housing, the rest is just gravy.
It surprised me at first that the unit does not fit tightly around my modifiers, but it is very securely held in place. No matter how much you want it off, it will not come off before you are As if it were a tank, it seems to be constructed this way. I'm very happy with my purchase, and will buy more in the future.
It has made my life so much easier to fit round heads into the bracket without having to push<extra_id_18> Due to the removable insert, I had to tug to get my AD200 light into the bracket. This is how the bracket should have been built in the first place.
This product does what it says it will do. Only thing you need to be aware of is that the inner part on the bottom slides on and off, and you could lose it if you are.
a) All of the tightening hardware (handle and knob) is plastic, making it always line up with the umbrella holder, as it is offset from the middle instead of on the same side as the umbrella holder 2) the tightening handle does not clear the bracket's rim. There isn't a big issue due to the ratcheting feature still working, but it is a little.
I like how quickly it sets up and how well it works with my AD360 and.
