It came with a scratch on its coating on the first, but no issues on the second. It took only one day for them to send me a replacement, which I had to spend way too much time cleaning before I could install it because the box was dusty. While I'm not sure whether this filter would protect my lens if I dropped it, it would keep the front element free of smudges and that is something I value. The Hoya filter is the one I usually purchase, and I do not skimp on my filter purchases. My Nikon system comes with several lenses with F mounts that I will not use all that often, so I have recently acquired a few. Seeing how the Waka UV filter has multiple coatings and great reviews, I decided to get it. It is now mounted on my newly acquired 50mm prime and I am very pleased with it. My gear should look good, so I see no reason to worry. It is also less expensive than Hoya and a bit more expensive than discount brands as well My opinion is that this is a good compromise.
