No, I do not own a 24mm f3 Elmar lens. I agree that it would likely fit, as the Leica filter appears to be very similar in size. The B+W website should have the dimensions of the clear filter you need on it. Take note of this and compare it to the current one you have.

I realize there's debate among photographers regarding whether a protective filter is necessary, but using a clear filter on my lenses removes my anxiety about damaging the lens and lets me focus on the image rather than the lens. Having the ability to just replace a filter when something goes wrong is very nice. Therefore, it's worth my time to use it.
I have been using B+W XS-500 since 1995. Since I have been using Pro clear 007 filters on all of my lenses without any problems, I have never had any issues. Despite the solid construction (brass), the fit and finish are perfect (never had a problem mounting them), and no image quality degradation or vignetting have been noticed (this is subjective and anecdotal, of course). The filter sits on a Fujinon XF35mm F2 R WR or equivalent, and its performance is flawless.
In spite of the filter, the flares are almost identical to what would occur without one.
Besides this, I have used the HD2 Hoya and Marumi EXUS clear filters. But I decided to use the B+W for all clear filters since it has the best blend of build and optical quality. At night, though, the film is still required to be removed when point light sources are in the frame due to mirror image ghosting, which is especially problematic with digital since the sensor surfaces are so much more reflective. In reality, this is the best filter to use when you need a protective one.
In addition to using these clear or UV filters for protection, I also use these on my Leica M lenses. MRC coating and anti-slip properties make them one of the best in the business A coating that reduces glare. I love how clear the glass is. The stock cap on my Leica X113 is poorly constructed and easily falls off with the slightest touch. Since my lens was always at risk of scratching, I was always worried.
