Questions & Answers

Are you able to use it with the sandisk extreme pro SSD?

There is no way I can be sure. There is a good possibility the Sandisk extreme pro will have a width/height very very close to that of the Samsung T5 and a USB-based interface Right in the middle is the C connector. But Smallrig offers an SSD mount which is universal in operation.

Is there an older version I can buy? It is really annoying to see the USB cable sticking out of the new version due to the way it mounts sideways. ?

However, if it's available for purchase, it's not that much different.

What do you think about using a Crucial X8 SSD with this?

The Samsung T5 is the only device that fits this.

What are the mounting options for this product? Does this mount directly to tripod mounts with just ?

I do not believe it has a female 1/4-20. A cheese plate must be mounted to a tripod, and then the tripod is mounted to the cheese plate.

Selected User Reviews For SMALLRIG Mount Bracket SSD Holder for Samsung T5 SSD with 1/4”-20 Threads, Compatible with SMALLRIG Cage for BMPCC 4K & 6K and Z CAM (New Version) – 2245B

The system works but it is I like this T5 holder because it's well made and keeps the T5 securely in place
3/5

What I do not like about the unit are the screws and the location. A small set of screws is seen at the top left of the camera. They only screw into the smallrig cage. My need is that it be on the right side of the screen so it can balance better when mounted to It is not clear to me why it does not have 1/4" or other standard screws. In essence, that is the only place where it can be screwed. The reason I returned it was because of this. You don't need to worry about the positioning if you don't care about it.

It's Better to Go With the Lanparte Version
3/5

It is worth paying more for the Lanparte Samsung drive mount, as it is better. In my experience, both of these combinations worked well with my BMPCC4Ks mounted on SmallRig cages, but the Lanparte kit was far less effective than that of BMPCC4Ks. While I am sure that there are many different sizes of USB cables to clamp onto, the two short ones I purchased did not get well clamped on by the I like how the Lanparte drive mount on the SmallRig BMPCC4K cage allows me to clamp my USB cable and Samsung drive securely. I also prefer how the Lanparte drive mount mounts on the SmallRig BMPCC4K You should use the Lanparte version of the encryption if you need really strong encryption for your drive and cable. With this SmallRig version, the USB cable is ineffectively clamped and the drive is not as secure as it could be.

T5 is the only one that needs this
3/5

There is nothing else to say. The Samsung T3 and the Samsung T5 are both my phones. The only T5 that fits in this mount is the T5. Despite the T3's thin body, it will not fit into this bracket since the T5 is nearly 500 millimeters larger. The opposite is true. Although this is a situation that can't be entirely attributed to SmallRig, it's actually absurd that such a small difference in size matters so much. Only use T5s if you are only going to use them. You can do whatever you want. Do not come near if you are not.

This is the cage hot shoe for blocks
3/5

The cage is configured poorly and has solid materials, but the materials are very sturdy. The small module was purchased as an add-on for my Small Rig bmpcc4k cage that holds Samsung T5 SSDs. While the mount's materials and durability seem solid, it can only be placed right behind the hot shoe and blocks it once the SSD is attached. Once this happens you are stuck with no other option but to use a USB 3. 0 enclosure. As Small Rig did not use the standard cage threads, it can only be mounted on this specific Small Rig cage, so if you have a Tilta or anything else, you will not be able to use it. Small Rig intentionally blocked off the cage's only hot shoe. What was his reason for doing so? There is a hot shoe extender you can buy! Small Rig products are among my favorite, in fact the majority of my bmpcc4k setup is I guess you can call it a ripoff, but what a waste. If you want a blue mount, pick the Kondor Blue Mount. This product can be mounted via the hot shoe or anywhere else on the cage. In the long run, it saves you money, but it's a bit more expensive.

Limited in a needless way
3/5

The pro's are Please note that I have no worries about the SSD slipping out thanks to the very sturdy design. Please note that It looks good and is professional. Please note that They need to be a bit shorter as they rub on each other while tightening. It is not a huge deal, but you will have to force the wingnuts to pass each other as you make a full rotation. Please note that What are the biggest cons in my opinion? (Maybe this is partially a criticism of the cage for small rigs? the cage has only a single mounting point. That's really not clear to me why they did it. Despite the fact that there are so many mounting points on this cage, if the bolts were made a tad bigger, it could have been used nearly everywhere, but the bolts that they used are so small they can only be used on one spot. While it may seem logical, if you don't have your cage fully prepared, you still have a wide range of options, so I don't like being forced to place There have been comments that it would be nice to have another option to mount the gimbal on the other side for the purpose of gimbal balancing, to which.

You got it! For mounting options, we will be able to help you! According to tradition, the other type of SSD holder is the "clamp" type Then squeeze
5/5

I am from This is a Left of the cages, above the data ports / power slot area, is where the "sides" style was mounted. It was configured that way for the 4K cage. There were numerous clunky and cumbersome steps involved. I have these SSD drive holders mounted on the far right side of my SmallRig cages for the BMDPocket 6K camera! I find it to be so much more simple, out of the way, and symmetrically efficient. I find it to be easy to put the drive in place, and to secure the cable head to the drive. As of now, neither of the mounting screws have had to be adjusted. Therefore, it is safe to assume you won't become preoccupied with gear even when frequently used. Focusing on the shoot itself will allow you to remain focused. I'll leave you with SmallRig. My biggest win of the year so far. The cage can be mounted in many different ways to meet your shooting needs as your needs change. There is no doubt in my mind that this.

This addition is great for keeping all the things secure and clean, but one disappointment remains
4/5

As a fan of Smallrig products, I am in love with them. Smallrig products make up the majority of my rig. Nevertheless, I waited for it to be available on Amazon for some time. My T5s were safe and secure from any unauthorized persons. There is one fault with this product that really surprises me. In it, there are no chemicals There is only one place on the Smallrig cage where M4 threads work. There is also a cold shoe area on the cage covered by the material. How come? Rather than using 1/4" 20 screws, why not just make it with standard mounting holes? Is there a reason why you can only mount it in certain places? My understanding of the thinking behind that one here is a bit shaky.

You changed this! Why did you do that! As people complained, it covered up the cold shoe, so you moved it to the left side where there is no room for a standard handle
3/5

Then I moved it over to the right side of the screen, which is awkward because it's right over the record button. Provide both versions of the player instead of just switching between the original and the new. The first one I bought made sense, so I just hit the buy button again thinking I was getting the right one, but I'm stuck with this. It's okay for people to buy adapters in place of a cold shoe, rather than totally rupturing the.
