The reason why I bought this item was that I had a Sony Handycam that was originally powered by a cord with a battery that was charged inside. I lost the cord in a move not long after I purchased it. Additionally, as the battery can be recharged separately, it is better than the original kind, since it is removable from the camera. You can use one battery to charge another while it is being used. This is advantageous for heavy users. It is a light unit and does not take up much room, so my packing it was easy. Also, the plug folds down into the unit, making it easy to travel with.

An additional battery was purchased from Amazon, along with an Amazon SONY charger. SOME HOW MY CAMERA SET FIT IN MY BAG DUE TO ITS COMPACT AND LIGHTWEIGHT. The unit comes with a built-in hidden power plug so there is no need for a cord to run the house current. Additionally, it had an adapter for charging in cars, so while traveling, it is very convenient to recharge between stops.

I have used the charger for my Sony NP-FZ18 as stated I have batteries for the FV70. Also, it looks like it will work with other battery sizes. You can charge your phone while driving, which is a convenient feature. A light informs you when the battery has been charged through the charger.
