Questions & Answers
Because Luxury Liner is a noise blocker, you could use it to stop noise from coming through a wall, but not on the back (hot) side of a refrigerator. Sound blockers should be placed between the noise source and the location where you don't want the noise to go, with as much coverage as possible to block the noise. If the noise is caused by vibration, you can open the fridge casing and apply vibration mats such as Damplifier Pro to the walls.
To reduce audible sound from neighbors' voices, TVs, and other sources, you'd need to use Luxury Liner Mass Loaded Vinyl across the entire floor area (not just in one spot or scattered here and there), seal every seam and gap in the mass loaded vinyl with a vinyl adhesive, and fill any gaps in the baseboard with acoustic caulk. It still wouldn't completely block out impact noise like things hitting the floor.
Yes, I believe so. It was used to cover drain pipes in a basement apartment bathroom's ceiling. We secured it with duct tape. It wasn't a particularly attractive job of wrapping, but it was extremely useful. You can still hear a little bit, but it's muffled and not particularly loud.
The sheet measures 24" x 54," so as long as your front door isn't bigger, you'll be fine. It is large enough to cover the majority of vehicle doors.

My 2017 Outback's floor was finally insulated after I realized how important it was. I had already covered the doors with butyl rubber matting and closed cell foam, but I had neglected the floors. I made a bad decision because I now know that the floor and wheel wells absorb a lot of the road and tire noise. So, after removing the seats and carpet, I layered closed cell foam and mass loaded vinyl (MLV = Second Skin Luxury Liner) over the OEM sound deadening (butyl rubber). Noise reduction is aided by each component: 1) butyl rubber matting with a foil backing prevents metal from vibrating, 2) a closed foam pad (quiets rattles and helps regulate temperature inside the car), and 3) mass loaded vinyl (stops noise in its tracks). Of course, because MLV is HEAVY and difficult to hang inside a door, step 3 is much easier to do on a horizontal surface (the floor) than it is on a vertical surface (the doors). Many installers, including myself, do not use MLV in their car doors. BUT. In my car, the addition of those two additional materials to the floor made a significant difference. Although I do not have a decibel meter, everyone in the car now notices the difference. I'm very happy with the final product. br>br> Is my car as quiet as a luxury car? There are a few reasons for this. My Subaru, unlike a Mercedes or a BMW, was not designed from the ground up to be a luxury vehicle. The metals used are lighter, the window glass is thinner, and the suspension is less. luxuriantly quiet, to be sure! br>br> Second Skin Luxury Liner is flexible and easy to cut with scissors. It looks great on flat surfaces, but it's too thick to fit into indentations in the flooring. The manufacturer recommends taping the edges, but I don't think it will move once the carpet is installed.
High-quality mass-loaded vynil in a project-friendly sheet size. Most other mlv I've seen is cut from a four-foot roll, resulting in a long strip. Second Skin's guys are easy to reach and will answer any questions you may have. All of their products are of high quality, and they will back them up if there are any problems.
Even on medium volume, it does not reduce the sound from a laptop.
The sound was muffled better with a yoga mat. This is surprising because the item is clearly well-made and has a large volume. I'm not sure what to think.
I had hoped for something like this. It's a thick sheet, but it's still flexible and manageable in size; I've bent it quite a bit and haven't seen any signs of tearing. As I previously stated, the product is of high quality.
It's big and bulky, but it's a breeze to work with. With soundproofing, I'm not sure it did as well as I had hoped, but maybe I had high expectations.
Awesome.
Fairly effective noise cancellation.
