Many years ago, I purchased a Supco Capacitor tester and it was both highly reliable and well-made. I had to replace the batteries on my service truck after the batteries leaked and the truck was no longer usable. My next purchase was another Supco, this time it is the new The biggest mistake of my life. This is a cheap and nasty Some of the time works, but is never reliable. There is also flimsiness to the clip on leads which do not always make contact with the built-in test cables. The plastic cover that holds the test leads inside the tester broke during the very first use and the zipper cracked Simple things such as this can't be trusted to test motor starts and capacitors correctly. Invest your money into something more valuable, and don't waste it on this cheap, worthless junk made in China.
The vendor, which I own a heating and air conditioning business, has used the product several times since purchasing it. There was no issue. The instructions must be read before use, as they describe the unit's capabilities and how it should be used. Reviewers have complained that it is a piece of junk. Here's a tester that I highly recommend.

Anyone who has a bad review should contact me. In order to do just that, I purchased this capacitor tester. Make sure the capacitors are working. Worked great for me. It is possible they did not discharge the capacitors before testing because they had a bad review. If you lay a screwdriver across both pins(legs), however you spell it, you will get the job done. you want to know how to do multiple legs, see YouTube. It is possible to determine whether a capacitor is good or bad with the aid of a multimeter. Testers like this one provide accurate measurements and are very compact. They come with their own built-in leads and two alligator clips as well.

However, the button and switch will probably break after a while (cheap). It is sad that the case is of higher quality than the tool (sad!). differ from the information on the product packaging (some of which I did not understand, but could tell was different. As a novice, I do not know much about this topic). referred to as "mF", but I know that it is uF (so please be aware of this). There is no way to know if the black and red cables with "alligator clips" were permanently attached on the back. There is no "+/-" label on the product packaging. There is a claim that "5% Accuracy" is accurate, but I'm not sure whether it's true.
This capacitor tester has been used so far on a number of different pieces of equipment. I was able to quickly diagnose the issue as being the capacitor itself. It saved me hundreds of dollars if not thousands of dollars by not having to call repair bunnies.
As an experiment for some high-value capacitors I was researching to use on a vintage stereo amp I was repairing. Over the course of an hour, I fiddled with this thing for the sake of just determining if one of the caps was broken. Unless you hold it just so, you will be unable to read the display unless you stand on your head and look at it closely. Because of the way the value jumps around, you don't know what it really means. The second one I bought for less than half the price came from China within 2 minutes of pulling it out of its box and was "clearly" telling me both cap were good values. I would never strongly recommend this to any of my friends or enemies. It's hard to believe i seen one on youtube and the guy liked it, maybe his worked better than mine, I don't want to be compared to that.
