Questions & Answers

Is there a way to disable the advanced feature "auto save to whitelist" so that it only blocks whitelists?

There is no way to disable the "auto save to whitelist" feature. Unwanted callers are known to press "0" on occasion. When one of the computer support scammers dialed 0, I had mine set up for about two or three days.

Will a new caller be able to leave a message on my answering machine if he presses zero when dialing my number?

Yes, it is possible to make it work. Because the new caller pressed zero, their number was automatically added to the white list. And if you don't answer the phone right now, I'll call you. The caller will then be able to leave a normal message on your answering machine.

Any products that begin with the letter - Contacts are processed, non-contacts are routed to voicemail, and blocked numbers are hung up on?

I'd also be interested in such a new product, which could simply trick the phone answering machine into responding with 10 fast rings or something similar. That would also imply that you should not respond to me. I'm hoping they make it soon; I already have one and am planning on purchasing two more, and I'll buy your version if they do.

Versions 1 and 2 appear to be identical; how can one tell the difference between the two? Are the units labeled with a model number or version?

The photo for the Version 2 on Amazon is actually for the Version 1, which further confuses things. Between the models, there are three distinct differences. 1) The Sentry symbol does not appear before the Sentry label on the device in version 2, and instead of language labels beneath the VOICE button, version 2 has A/B/C/OFF. 3) When you flip the device over, you'll notice that version 2 has a battery compartment, whereas version 1 doesn't.

AT LONG LAST, PEACE AND QUIET! This is one of the most useful devices I've ever bought
5/5

My phone is now completely silent at all times of the day and night. When the phone does ring, I know it's someone I want to speak with. If you're looking for a call blocker, I have some advice for you: whitelist devices are the only way to go. Blacklisting devices are a waste of money because you'll never be able to keep them up to date. There are simply too many scam callers, and each time they call, they use a new/different spoofed phone number! I first tried a call blocker with a blacklist and then returned it. It's simple to program, but it takes time if you have a lot of numbers to whitelist; however, it's well worth the time and effort. One important thing to remember is that a caller who isn't on your whitelist can still reach you; however, a spammer/scammer will not go through the "dial 0" routine. br>FYI, I'm using a Panasonic DECT 6 with four handsets. I'm using the regular (preferred) series line connection scheme with a 0 cordless phone system with answering machine. By connecting it in this manner, I am able to keep my phones completely silent and free of unwanted calls. I didn't have to connect it in the same way that Panasonic phones are supposed to be connected. When the phones ring, the CID information is displayed, but when a call comes in from someone who isn't on the whitelist, the CID information is not displayed unless the caller dials "0" to get through. The CIDs of all calls are stored in the Sentry, whether they ring or not. whether to go through with it or not I should also mention that I have OOMA as my home phone service. br>Update 1: November 24, 2018: br>Now that we've had a presidential election, I'm even more impressed with the device. I can see from the caller ID that it is stopping an average of 6 calls per day, which is VERY impressive! So far, a couple of people who were not whitelisted and needed to reach me WERE able to do so, but no scammers, spammers, or robocallers have tried to get through the "dial 0" routine. br>Update 2 1/18/2021: br>After another election cycle, I can confidently state that this device simply WORKS! It has been rejecting an average of ten applications per week. Every day, I receive 12 phone calls. No spammer or scammer has attempted to circumvent the "dial 0" routine to this day, but a doctor's office has, and I was the recipient of the call.

Stars are falling from the sky

It's O. Caller ID on my V-phone, on the other hand, is disabled. Phones with technology do not appear on the phone any longer. Incoming Call is all that is written. My house phone doesn't ring when Sentry rings! Many parts of my house are deafeningly quiet! It will also no longer allow my answering machine to take a call if it is not answered. If I had my own greeting, I'd tell people to dial zero, wait four rings, and then hang up. That way, when it tried again, it would ring my house phone and go to my answering machine, earning me another half-star. br>br>It arrived in a box labeled V2. He went over all of my issues with determining if I had a V2 with me. 0 or V2. 2 by offering to hang up and call me, listen to the message, and then tell me what version I have; he also offered, without being asked, to assist me in entering my first phone numbers into the white and black lists. The most inconvenient aspect is having to unplug the line and re-plug it
3/5

I'd had it for a while and finally got around to connecting it. It takes far too long to enter numbers that you want to accept or reject; the quickest way is to do so when the phone rings, but you'd have to be close by to do so. The most inconvenient aspect is that you must unplug the line and remove the batteries every time you want to check or perform any action. If it freezes up, the instructions say to do that, but really, EVERY TIME? br> It also tells the caller to press 0 and leave a message if they aren't a telemarketer, which doesn't work. The phone simply hangs up on you. You will be able to leave a message if you call back, but the caller will not be aware of this. As a result, since I set this up, I haven't received a single message. If that's your ultimate goal, this call blocker will help you achieve it, but people who know you might start to think you're a jerk. Great idea, but it's still a work in progress.
