Questions & Answers

My phone service is provided through a cable connection. I didn't realize your model v5000 didn't work with cable until after I bought it. Is this a different take on the same thing?

I have Comcast phone service, and my V5000 has worked flawlessly for the past two years. I now have 812 blocked nuisance/robo call numbers in addition to the preprogrammed ones. My V5000 is a blessing from God!

Is it possible to block a phone number using your phone? To disable the phone, press 1 or 2 on the handset. ?

To make this work, you must first press "" and then "2" on your phone. It's possible that this is incorrect. You might think they're saying "hit the number 2 to block a call," but they're actually saying "hit the number sign and then the 2 to block a call." I hope this helps, because when it's doing its job, this is a truly beautiful piece of equipment!

What is the best way to block a phone number?

Yes, it is possible to disable an area code. This is the instruction that I used on my machine from the CPR website:br>br>You can manually add an entry to the CPR Call Blocker by getting a dial tone on the telephone connected to the Call Blocker (must be in Standard/In-Standard mode). Set up of the series). Then dial * * 7 followed by the number you want to block, then * * 7 againbr>br>You should hear a BEEP after each key, and the Call Blocker screen will say SUCCESSFUL, and the counter will increase by 1br>br>You can also block entire area codes or country codes by; br>br>– Get a dial tone on the phone connected to the CPR Call Blockerbr>– Dial * * 7 br>– Then dial the area code/country code you want to blockbr>– Then dial againbr>br>br>For example, to block the 408 area code dialbr>* * 7 408 br>OR to block ALL calls from the UK dialbr>* * 7 0044 br> 872- xxxx, you can use a single code to disable all of these; br>* * 7 408872 br>br>This is a fantastic machine, though I prefer to use it in allow mode instead of block mode. Allow mode is not available on other machines, so you can manually add numbers to the block list and then move them to the allow list. You can allow partial numbers, which is useful for calls from businesses or medical offices, in the same way that you can block partial numbers.

Is it possible for the unit to block a call before it is received?

On my phone, it does. I have three additional phones in addition to a cordless Panasonic phone with an answering machine. I used the standard setup, and the phone numbers I've blocked aren't ringing at all. This is a fantastic system. I would say we have had a 95% reduction in spam calls and the only calls that get through are tricky spammers who circumvent the system and act as if they are local calls% Some of these sneaky spammers aren't even detectable by the CPR V10000, and I'm not sure how they do it. In this case, I use my Panasonic phone's call blocker, which is very limited.

I had a 3-year-old CPR call blocker that wasn't quite ready for prime time
3/5

It was four years ago. I purchased the new fancy version, which includes all of the new blocking features. The issue is that it isn't working. On Cox digital phone service, I have a Panasonic DECT cordless telephone system, which I set up according to the instructions and discovered caused a 5-minute delay. When I turned off ANY phone on the system, I had to wait 7 seconds for a dial tone. hook. For the first two weeks, inbound calls did not ring. Three rings meant you only got one ring to answer the phone if you used call answering. I dialed the 800 number for CPR's customer service. After waiting 25 minutes on hold, I tried the online service, but they aren't interested in assisting you. emails that were sent; I didn't get a response. I experimented with a parallel hook-up and failed miserably. The phone returned to normal after the procedure, but the call blocker refused to activate at all! br>br>Save your money; the V10000 isn't worth the trouble, and I'm not sure I'd use CPR after their poor customer service; fool me once, and I'll never use them again. br>br>UPDATE: November 28th, 2018 - My same review for 1- can be found on the CPR Corporate website. star, as well as a few others, has been removed. All that's left are glowing, suspicious, and most likely fake reviews. Now I know not to put my faith in these crooks ever again!.

On my phone, it doesn't work
3/5

Customer service is impossible to reach; I can't get it to work on my phone line; I've tried several times to contact customer service, but I'm always disconnected. It's almost as if they're trying to "block" me! My unit's buttons aren't working - I can't see who I've blocked, no numbers to block, nothing but the number of calls blocked (I CAN seem to block numbers using the 2 feature), but I can't unblock them if I make a mistake. I'm afraid I'll have to return it because the buttons aren't working for me. I was hoping that calling customer service would fix the problem, but I can only get through for a few minutes before the line goes dead. I'm also unsure what that means. I was on hold for over an hour, waiting for someone to return my call, but there was no response.

Junk - Untrustworthy
3/5

While the device appears to be filtering calls, the "Block Now" and "List" buttons are unresponsive, so you can't see what you've blocked or block new calls. The device appears to be dead from the outside. Because the Block Now light only illuminated once for a call, I believe that number has been blocked, but I can't be sure. To block the current call, press "2" but nothing happens. The unit simply shuts down, sending all incoming calls to voice mail and leaving the phones without a dial tone. It was a waste of money.

For the past few weeks, it has performed admirably

UPDATE - Due to some new factors, the rating has been reduced to three stars. First and foremost, I've had the device for about a year and a half and have already blocked 96 numbers. The majority of those who call only call once or twice, while a few will call multiple times and be blocked 3- 5 times, but the spammers just keep spoofing different numbers, with the exception of a Sierra Club number that the device has blocked over 50 times. br>br>I find the interface to be clumsy and unintuitive. If you click one of the list buttons, such as call, block, or allow, the interface didn't automatically switch back to the main interface after only a few seconds of inactivity, it would be better and less frustrating. br>br>In addition, you can't see if any of the 10,000 spam numbers supposedly embedded in the device are being blocked via the device interface, and you can't upgrade those numbers because you don't want to input data or connect it to the internet. ORIGINAL RATING - BR>BR>ORIGINAL RATING - BR>ORIGINAL RATING - ORIGINAL RATING My wife works from home and makes business calls on our Ooma VOIP line. She gets a lot of robocalls, scams, questionable charities, political calls, and so on because she has to answer every call. If the caller is human, she politely listens for a while before requesting to be put on their do not call list, but that hasn't stopped them from calling back. br>br>The CallBlocker has been a revelation to her because all she has to do is press the red button and that particular number will not be able to call back and will be immediately disconnected. I got to hit the red button once on a live Microsoft support spam caller and it was immensely satisfying, though it probably won't stop them from calling back on a spoofed number. br>br>I got to hit the red button once on a live Microsoft support spam caller and it was immensely satisfying. br>br>I got to hit the red button once on a live Microsoft support spam caller and it was immensely satisfying.

The silence is eerie! Only 250 blocked calls are allowed on my phone system
5/5

All of them were consumed. We were getting 3 - 4 per cent of the time. Each morning, I receive six junk/spam/scam calls, with a total of ten per day (I know how it feels!). I was also stuck because I needed to keep our home phone on because of a family member's health issues. This unit was inexpensive and simple to install, and the number of garbage calls decreased dramatically! We're down to 1 - a week after the installation. 2 a day on average, with many days having none at all! You can block additional calls by answering and pressing 2 on any extension, which is a fantastic feature! This device is said to include 10,000 pre-installed apps. You can block up to 2,000 additional numbers in addition to the ones already blocked. Answering and blocking the few calls that get through now gives me a sick sense of satisfaction. "Hello, this is Microsoft customer service. " BLOCK! "Hello, I'm calling to inquire about your credit card balance. " BLOCK! "My name is Amy, and I'd like to welcome you to my website. " I've been trying to contact you for quite some time. " BLOCK! Ahhh. Product that comes highly recommended.

Yes, it is beneficial
4/5

It's simple to set up; all you have to do is plug it in. Our Panasonic wireless handsets are compatible with it. I tried entering the code to disable all VOIP calls, but I'm not sure if it worked. Despite the fact that the indicator that was supposed to come on did not, the unit declared me SUCCESSFUL. However, we continue to receive spam calls. The disadvantage of using the 2 feature from a remote handset is that you must first answer the call in order to use it. This informs them that your phone number is active, and they will return your call on a different line. It is preferable to simply use the Block Now button. If you're not near the CPR when the call comes in, you can let it go to VM and then use the Call List button to find the number and block it with Block Now. All of the buttons on my unit work, and I'm getting a lot fewer spam calls - Sadly, it isn't zero.
