Questions & Answers

What is the best label size and material for printing on cat5-compatible labels? Patch panels and 6cables?

Panels are labeled with 3/8 inch black on white permanent vinly labels. The text size should be set to auto. The majority of patch panels are spaced at a distance of around. 65 is a good place to start and experiment with to get your panel spacing adjusted to your specific brand of panel. The cable wrap feature, which is printed on 1" labels, is used for cables. This will allow you to get up to about 7 characters without having to shrink too much.

Is this the same as the 3M PL200, where the 3M model is simply a Dymo that has been rebranded?

Wow, I just googled the PL200 and it looks eerily similar to the Dymo 5200, though the Dymo comes with the battery charger, some tape spools, and a nice hard case to keep everything together. In terms of price, I believe the Dymo is the better option.

Do you have a data cable and a charger, for example?

It is dependent on the method of purchase: It comes with a nicad battery and charger as part of the kit. It can also run on six AA batteries.

How do the labels fare when it comes to automotive applications such as oils and fuels?

On my Perkins 4, I use these labels to label the wiring. They're 108 diesel, and they're fine. Simply choose the appropriate ones. The ones for cables as well as the clothtype ones are what I use.

Selected User Reviews For Sanford Brands 1756589 RHINO 5200 Label Printer Kit

When it worked, it was great, but I don't think I can recommend it! I was very pleased with the DYMO Industrial RHINO 5200 Label Maker at first; I performed as promised, allowing me to finish a cable wiring project with neatly printed labels
3/5

The one star rating is due to the fact that the display is no longer functional; you can see the backlit yellow but no text or lines of any kind. The unit was only used for one project before being stored in the case, which was kept in a climate-controlled environment. br>br>I've tried every option in the troubleshoot section of the manual, and I've always tried a factory reset using information from the Dymo website, so I can only assume it's a design flaw or poor quality control. br>br>It was great when it worked, but it's not a good value if it breaks down after only a few uses.

Don't buy anything! This is not a trustworthy product!! We've now purchased our second 5200
3/5

The first one functioned for a few months before failing to turn on. The second unit only lasted one week before giving up. We have several 4200s that work flawlessly, but we tried a 5200 for some unique features like panel templates. For the past 30 minutes, I've been waiting for Dymo tech support. I'm interested to hear their response, assuming anyone ever picks up the phone. I don't usually write reviews, but this product should be avoided.

What happened to this ten years ago? I'm not sure how I survived before it
4/5

IT and electronics are my fields of expertise. I've got a lot of wires, setup, components, and other things that need to be labeled. My trusted "Brother" label maker did a decent job for me for the past two decades, but there were a lot of issues, including fonts. Outside of the traditional A-frame, you won't be able to write ohms, superscript, or much else. Even if the symbol did exist, it would be difficult to locate unless you used it frequently. I also had to keep a close eye on the settings to make sure they were correct. br>br>I went looking for a better solution and found the DYMO - It was a little on the pricey side, but the ability to print on shrink wrap was enough to convince me - I'm still testing it, but I was blown away by how simple it was to create cable labels, patch panel labels, control fonts, sizing, and dimensions when it arrived. I can even tell it how wide I want my label to be and it will automatically adjust the print size to fit! It saves a lot of time. br>br>It's tough, rechargable, and incredibly simple to change labels with (the Brother model frequently ate labels, necessitating clearing and "fixes"). It has a lot of fonts for all kinds of jobs, including electronics and cable labels, so I can have very wide labels or very narrow labels and still be productive. It's even possible to print barcodes. codes! br>br>The only thing it might require is the ability for me to upload a file containing a large amount of data that needs to be printed on labels, but I'm sure that's already in place - I've just yet to discover it. Another feature I enjoy is that when you print copies, it comes to a halt in between each one so you can cut the label. There will no longer be any scissors! br>br>Definitely worth the money!br>br>Edit: The model is still one of my favorites - It's made creating labels for electronical items a lot easier after six months. However, there are a couple of disadvantages. I've learned a lot about backs in my time. You can't change the amount of space between label prints. While I appreciate the extra space between the label content and the cut, I end up with a lot of wasted label - For many of my labels, this wastes more than half of the label roll. And there's no way to get rid of it. I can't use "insert" to print a series of values because each label is separated by a large space. I'd like to print a long list and cut them out by hand. However, because I need to print two numbers on each print, separated by new-line characters, There are no options with this label maker, despite the fact that it has a line (which is a fantastic feature). I'll have to do this with my old Brother label maker to avoid wasting a lot of labels. br>br>Another feature that I've discovered is the lack of sub/super script. You can't write exponents, which is very useful in some situations. There are no options for doing this with the 5200. There are symbols with the numbers 2 and 3 in superscript, but that's all there is to it. br>br>Overall, I'm still pleased with it, but I had to reduce my rating by one star to account for a few "glaring" flaws.

The print quality would have been acceptable if not for the streaking, but this is a delicate piece that will not last
3/5

br>br>The design and functionality were excellent, and it was simple to print labels in any shape, size, or material, including wire wrap. This labelmaker also wastes a lot less tape than any other Brother labelmaker I've tried. br>br>The issue is that the display on the unit stopped working after only a few hours of use and gentle handling. Although it appears to be ruggedized, it is not. It is incapable of withstanding even routine use, let alone abuse. I've seen other reviews that state the same thing.

I hadn't used a label maker since I was a kid, and I could only afford the old clicker style back then
5/5

My wife purchased the DYMO 160 for the house during a Home Depot sale, and we are very pleased with it. Because I do a lot of woodworking and metalworking, I decided to get the Rhino 5200 and go "all out," as they say: ) This big baby is one of my favorites. It can pretty much do everything I'd want it to do, plus a lot more. So far, I've only used it to re-enact a scene from a film. I'm using it to label the electrical panel in my house and shop, as well as to make audio wire labels for my stereos and home theater, and to organize everything around the house and shop in general. I'm a tool junkie, so having this, even if it's only for occasional use, isn't an issue for me. The outcomes are what matters. Everything in the shop, tool shed, and house is now much easier to find. Using the label maker is a little difficult at first, but with a little practice, I can now do almost anything with it. Not as user-friendly as the DYMO 160, but then again, we're not comparing apples to apples. Because the Rhino 5200 is capable of so much more, it's only natural that it's more difficult to operate. The manual, on the other hand, is simple to follow and contains all of the information you'll need. However, instead of having multiple languages on each page, I wish they had separate manuals for each language. Of course, given how much I adore this unit, this is a minor quibble. br>br>The screen is large and well-lit, the unit is comfortable to hold, and it is well-designed. I strongly advise all professionals in need of one, as well as tool enthusiasts who want to get their hands on a fantastic LB, to purchase this.
