I was surprised by the quality of sound for the price point. This is a test unit that I bought to see how it compares to other violin/viola microphones. I think that's pretty good! I was surprised to see it stretch so well to fit my viola without much effort. The pros are I am concerned. The cheapest - It sounds good, but you can just adjust the positioning to achieve different tonal qualities - It is securely attached to the springs however, there are some cons I am concerned. It is made from cheap materials. There is a clear indication that the mounting bracket is made of cheap plastic, and the springs may break after a short time. The wire is very thin and can easily rip if not taken care of. I am concerned. After steady use for three months, I expect it to last no longer than that. There is a short cable and the connector only works with Shure bodypacks (TA4 connector)*. Clean the signal up with a preamp after you use this. If you want to make the most of this $40 microphone, put in a high pass filter and find a good EQ.
It comes with springs and little suction cups that firmly hold it onto the instrument. Although I was not in the audience, others said that the sound quality was good. I can't speak for myself as to the quality of the sound, but others agreed. It did take me a few times to readjust the mic's location to keep it in my preferred position.
The program was great, but you need to buy a device adapter.
