So I'd say it's capable if it has this end on it.
When it comes to receiving range, it all comes down to the power of the station you're trying to listen to. In the item description, the frequency range is specified.
You'd have to look up the frequencies and bandwidth available in your area.
I purchased an antenna to receive radio signals. It was never used to send or receive data.

This thing performed far worse than the old-fashioned telescoping antenna that came with my high-end Uniden Bearcat scanner. I really wanted to like this antenna, but it's simply not worth even the small amount I paid for it. The antenna itself appears to be in good working order. When examined closely, it appears to be a little thin and flimsy. What's up with that cable? Wow. I'll tell you what happened. Should this be used near anything electrical, it is far too thin and lacks any kind of shielding. This device looks great and promises a lot, but it only gives you static mixed in with what you can actually get, which isn't much.
The stock rubber ducky antenna on my SR30C scanner pales in comparison to this antenna. It works well on my kitchen table as well as the roof of my car. It's intended to be a mobile antenna that uses the vehicle's ground plane. br> I disagree with some people who think it's cheaply made. Yes, it's made of light materials, but that's how most small cartop HAM antennas are now. The same can be said for the lead cable. Despite the fact that it claims to have 20-foot wideband coverage, Anything below 50 mhz causes moderate signal fade at 1000 mhz, in my experience. Above that, everything is fine. The magnet base is sturdy and does not cause any issues when traveling at highway speeds. You can't go wrong with this deal.
On VHF, it performs admirably. I didn't try UHF. br> It's not very good on 800 MHz, despite the fact that it wasn't advertised as such. The coax was too short to reach from the trunk to the front of the car at 10 feet. I'd try to find something more appropriate.
Great antenna; I mounted it on the rod iron fence and connected it to the scanner, and it pulled in aviation and 800 megahertz frequencies from over twenty miles away.
It gave me the extra distance I needed, but it was still scratchy at times. I really like the included adhesive strip. a magnetic foundation.
I'm comparing it to a Wilson scanner antenna I had on my Ford pickup that got lost in moving a few years ago and was good for scanning in the car but was a little fragile.
It performs admirably. If you're looking for a good, inexpensive antenna, this one does the job. That concludes the discussion.
