Questions & Answers

Are they waterproof enough to be used outside for an extended period of time?

After a year of continuous outdoor use, the sun had taken its toll on them, and they had faded, become brittle, and tore.

What is the approximate amount of sand required to fill them?

It will take about 65 pounds of sand to completely fill all four bags, but since most big box stores sell sand bags in 50-pound bags, you'll only need two and have some left over. Each bag weighs about 15 pounds when fully loaded.

What is the length and width of a single bag? Dual 10 is written on the label. 25x9. 75 Does this mean you'll be able to fill two compartments in one bag? Do you have to fold 10x9 or something similar?

Each bag is divided into two compartments.

Is it possible to attach bags to a curtain that is used outdoors?

Each bag is equipped with a d-ring clip. You might be able to make it work if your curtains have a hole through which you can fasten things.

The construction is solid and heavy
4/5

However, I scrimped on the size of the carabiner (it was too small). When I ordered these bags on Amazon, I didn't read some of the reviews that said they leaked sand. br>br>Because all sandbags eventually develop small holes or rips in their seams, it was suggested that I use pea gravel. I went to the Home Center and bought a half cubic yard. br>br>However, to make things easier, I placed the gravel in gallon Ziploc bags before placing it in the sand bags. This way, if I need to fly with my gear, I can easily remove the Pebbles and leave them at home rather than paying an overweight fee. After that, go to the store and get some Ziploc bags and Pebbles. br>br>Placed 5 pound of Pebbles in each ziplock bag on both sides of the sandbags for a total weight of 10 1/2 pounds. Personally, I think this is a good weight that is easy to transport. br>br>The sandbags are of good quality, with double zippers that keep the pebbles secure. Using the sandbags this weekend was a disappointment. The backdrop frame and lights were already in place. When I went to attach the carabiner to the stand, I discovered that it was too small to fit around the base tube. When they needed to provide extra-large carabiners, they provided medium carabiners. carabiners with a lot of weight br>br>Had to take the backdrop apart. Slide the sandbag Loop over the stand tube by removing the umbrella and lights. After that, reconnect the lights and umbrellas to the stand, as well as the horizontal bar with the backdrop to the backdrop stands. br>br>Removed the carabiners, which will be reused. Because black isn't a common color for carabiners, you won't be purchasing any new ones when you can simply slide the strap over the tube during setup. Because sand bags are heavy and can cause damage to your equipment if carried together, they should not be carried together. Because the sandbags weigh over 40 pounds, a stitch in the carrying bag will rip. I got a screwdriver and a black bucket. At the Home Center, you can get a lid for about $12. The four sandbags fit snugly inside the bucket's five gallon capacity. The screw cover also makes it simple to get to the screws. This is the best way I've found to transport the sandbags. br>br>I figured out how to make the bucket that was used to transport the sand bags do double duty. Built a seat to fit on the bucket's bottom and used the bucket as a stool for the subject to sit on while taking pictures. Because my son is so tall, the current backdrop stand only leaves a small sliver above his head, resulting in an awkward crop. The AGG1112 backdrop stand from Limo Studio was purchased. I'm 5 feet tall. While out shopping, I came across four of them. A dollar gets you a pair of 5 inch carabiners with padding. They're so pretty, but I really wish they were black! They just barely fit around the one inch (25 mm) base tube on the stand, which most stands this tall have. br>br> The base tube is 4 inches (35 mm) in diameter. So you'll need a carabiner that's between 5 and 6 inches long. Of course, before attaching lights or a crossbar, you can still use the strap over the stand. br>br>***update 2019**
br>Considering purchasing another set of stands, despite the fact that we only use two for the backdrop stand and three to four for lighting. So I was a couple of sandbags short, but since I was shooting indoors, the wind didn't bother me. br>br>While shopping at the sporting goods store, I came across a black baseball bucket that is slightly taller and cost around $12. This baseball bucket will almost certainly fit the same lid. I'll end up with two bucket sizes, but that gives me two options for the subject to sit on in photography.

I bought the play sand, which is a clean sand, and the best way to protect the bags is to put the sand in a Ziploc bag
5/5

The bags will last longer this way. I filled the bag with 8 pounds of sand on each side, resulting in a 16-pound bag. The material of the bag is good, as is the carrying strap. It has two zippers on each side that run in opposite directions. The zippers do not appear to be very durable, but if you use a Ziploc bag for the sand, you will never have to open or close them, so they should last for several years or even longer if you take care of them.

This is the ideal solution
5/5

On windy days, these bags were the ideal solution for keeping my three-person canopy swing from sliding across my stamped concrete patio. It was simple to fill the bags. To fill all of the bags, I used two 50-pound sand bags from my local home improvement store. The only problem I ran into was trying to close the bags after they were filled. The zippers aren't as good as they should be. When filling the bags, be careful not to overfill them and to keep the zipper in the open position. If you do this, it will be difficult to close the bag.

Weights for my ring light and dslr camera, as well as a canopy to use at craft shows! These were originally purchased to accompany my photography tripods
5/5

I appreciated the inclusion of a 'D ring' on each bag, which allowed it to stay in place better than the saddle alone. My wife was also pleased that the wide mouth zippered opening could be used to fill with bags of pennies or small weights, as she dislikes having sand in the house. However, I don't think sand would be an issue because the pouches are made of very thick nylon and have a rubber coating on the inside that can be wiped clean! It reminds me of something that could be classified as'military-style'. grade’. br>Ironically, we found multiple uses for these at our family picnic after the group picture, including weighting down our balloons and the small tent.

It does the job for me
5/5

For a 10'X10' canopy, I needed some weight, and according to what I found online, the minimum weight per leg should be 24 lbs. The price of 24 plate weights is $24. lbs. for all four legs or $100 for all four legs br>These bags cost me $30 in total, including the pea gravel and rope. br>br> I was able to get approximately 1. All four bags contained 25 cubic feet (3 average bags) of pea gravel, weighing in at 24 pounds each. I'm sure I'll be able to add another pound or two once everything has settled down, but I'm thinking 24. lbs. For me, it'll suffice. br>br>After that, I tied some rope to the bags as well as each canopy corner. br>I believe it will be successful.

Save your money; these aren't worth it
3/5

This isn't going to last! We received these in late April, and by the end of July, three of them had ripped open, spilling sand all over the place. 3 months isn't exactly "super heavy duty" in my opinion. We haven't moved them either; they're simply on our deck, holding umbrella bases in place. br>Of course, the return period has passed, so I contacted the seller via email. They responded quickly at first and requested photos, which I sent, but I have received no further communication from the seller after several weeks. Since then, the fabric of two more bags has ripped. Save your money; these aren't worth it.

Damaged was received
3/5

So I waited a long time to use this product, and it wasn't until yesterday that I discovered it was damaged. One of the sandbags was cut when I received it. Someone appears to have cut open a box to fill this order, cutting straight through the box and across one of the bags. Not a big deal, but going forward, I'll always inspect the condition of any product I order when I receive it, so I can return it if it's damaged and get a replacement. The other three bags are adequate, but I wish I had all four to use!.

Exactly what the doctor ordered! These are what I use to weight down a photo booth backdrop as well as for pop-up displays

canopies that provide shade The work is excellent. I'd recommend going with 2 - Before putting your sand into the packs, place it in 1 gallon ziplock bags. This means you won't have to worry about sand leaking out if the surface gets a little roughed up. I've got eight of them, and they're all great.
