Questions & Answers

Can someone tell me what the difference is between this and the original LensPen, which I own and use? Is there a reason to upgrade to the new version because of a feature?

Same pen. It's just a new style.

Is it possible to use it with slides or film?

I'm not sure if it'll work with slides. It's great for camera lenses because it's made of film. I recommend that you get in touch with the Canadian manufacturer.

Is it possible to use this with eyeglasses?

This product should theoretically work on any optical glass, regardless of whether it is attached to a camera body.

Is it safe to use on ALL filters with this? It was stated on one of the other product pages for this brand that polarizing filters should not be used. ?

It's completely secure.

It appears to be a knockoff and not what is shown in the photo
3/5

Bandust is not listed as a brand under which the Lenspen is sold, and "LensPen" is not engraved on the cap. This data was taken from the LensPen website's "How to Tell a Real LensPen from a Fake?" section. Also, be aware: Some businesses sell LensPen products that are knockoffs or fakes. To remove fingerprints from LensPen products, a special carbon compound is used on the cleaning tip. Some fakes don't even have a cleaning tip; in fact, they can't clean at all! Other knockoffs use unidentified substances on the tip, which can harm the lens and LCD surfaces they're supposed to clean! WARNING: IMITATION LENSPEN PRODUCTS ARE NOT TO BE USED! br>I'm not going to keep this possibly fake product that could cause more harm than good. It took three attempts to print a return label because it is divided into three pages, the second of which is the actual shipping label, which prints as large as an entire sheet of paper. Made reduction to 50% which made pages 1 and 2 microscopic but printed label a good size enough It appears to be a ruse.

Lenspen Bandust? I just got my package
5/5

I'm not sure if this is a fake because the package says BANDUST lens cleaner. LENSPEN is also printed on the pen. The back of the package does not appear to be as it should be, according to the LENSPEN website. Finally, the item pictured is not what was received because BANDUST/Argraph is not an authorized reseller. I'm not sure if it'll work as an official LENSPEN, but it's not worth the hassle of returning it. br>Update 19/12/20: I received a response to the above and was informed that Bandust/Argraph was distributed under LENSPEN authorization, so my review has been changed to a five-star rating.

This cleaner is excellent
5/5

When I'm out photographing, I always have one of these on me. It really works. For example, at Crater Lake, a woman with a large and friendly Great Dane approached me and asked if I could photograph her with her camera. My camera was a Canon 60D with a 28mm lens. I've got a 70mm lens on my neck. She thanked me for taking the pictures and left with "Marmaduke. " The next couple of photos I took were a little blurry, so I blew them up a little. Yes, the image is a little hazy. "Marmaduke" appears to have gotten his cold, wet nose on my UV filter on the lens, leaving a trail of "dog snot": ) I cleaned the filter with my lens pen and it was like new again! But I had a spare lens pen, so I tossed it in the nearest trash can!.

The genuine article, the Lens Pen
4/5

Along with a Zeiss or Sightron lens wipe, these are the only things that work for me. Use the brush to remove loose debris and spider webs, then clean the lens with a lens wipe, let dry, and then "polish" the lens with the cup end of the Lens Pen. All of my rifle scopes, spotting scopes, and binoculars are equipped with this feature. It's way too expensive for what it is, but it's the only thing that works for me when I have a smudge or something that won't come off any other way. This book comes highly recommended.

After a few days of use, your lens will start to scratch
3/5

I'm hoping that the creators read this. br>I've also updated my rating for this product. It's a great item, but they're scrimping on it, and it appears to wear out much sooner than they claim. The lack of a brush cover is a major design flaw. It's designed to fit in your pocket, but there's no way to keep it safe from debris. br> After about three days of shooting with it, this is what happened. It collects more debris than it removes from the lens. Furthermore, it appears that static cling is transferred to the lens. It is in desperate need of a makeover. br>br>It has a fantastic concept. a dependable dry cleaning service that you can rely on time after time. The design is simply awful, and the quality of the production appears to be deteriorating. I had one break down while I was using it the other day. br> They ought to:br>1. Include a cover for the brush side as well. The slider appears to be extremely useful. However, debris from the pocket continues to get lodged in it. Worse, as you slide the brush out, the debris is embedded deeper and hidden.
2. I'm not sure what the second suggestion is. or, to put it another way, it's covered in something. However, because I shoot almost every day, it appears that I go through these like candy, as the tip becomes dry and does not glide across the lens surface. br>br>I know what it's like to be a lens. a lens from the past but a scratched lens as a result of using this pen br>Perhaps I was mistaken. I don't want to punish them, so I'm not going to give them a low grade. The pen is still one of my favorites. It's very convenient and easy to use. br> Simply follow the ABC's of "Keith Carver" - Air, Brush, and Clean are three words that come to mind when it comes to cleaning. Brushing should be done with caution - Ensure that your brush is free of debris (i. e. Brushing the air before brushing). Yes, you can take an extra step and airbrush after brushing, but it won't be as cool as ABC'S. Take a look at ABAC's website for more information. (I believe some of the contents of my pocket got stuck in the brush. ) It's too bad the brush end doesn't have a cover. The truth is that this isn't a magical pen with unique abilities. It's simply more convenient, easier, and faster than liquid, which is more than enough for me; however, cleaning with this pen necessitates the same level of diligence as cleaning with liquid.

Only about ten uses are possible
3/5

I bought six of these for an eight-month road trip, expecting to use only a few of them in that time. I've previously used Lens Pens that didn't have screw-on caps. These worked well, but the caps would frequently fall off, the tip would dry out, and the Lens Pen would be rendered useless. br>br>The new model with the screw-on cap appeared to be the ideal "upgrade" for keeping the tips from drying out. When it was brand new, it lasted about 8 to 10 years. The tips are fantastic and clean lenses and filters incredibly well after ten uses. The new Lens Pens with screw-on caps, on the other hand, do not appear to allow the tip to be screwed down far enough into the lens pen to touch the sponge or whatever is in the cap to keep it in good shape for more than about 10 uses. br>br>I find that blowing on the lens or filter first (which is sometimes necessary if the lens or filter is extremely dirty) and then using these Lens Pens causes the tip to dry out even faster. If the tips stayed in better shape for a longer period of time, this would easily be a 5-star rating. a star product, but because they dry out so quickly, it's only a 2 or 3 star product because you'll have to keep buying them if you shoot a lot. br>br>For the time being, I keep a large supply of these in my car, as well as a large supply of wipes. When I use the wipes, they leave streaks on the lens or filter unless it's extremely hot outside, in which case I have to use the Lens Pen to remove them.
