Battery power is not needed for this device. It is powered by a standard electrical outlet.
It plugs directly into a 230 volt wall outlet with two prongs.
The beta cassette does not work for this. VHS regular tapes are able to use it.

Rewinding the tape should be done with great care so the tape is not damaged.
My mother had a similar model that had broken several years before (she used the old one). I ordered this one for her to replace her broken model. I am happy to help her find it since she could not find it in any stores and suggested she order one off of amazon where she can find everything else that isn't available anywhere else. The system did not work properly from the beginning, it was slow, labored, and also loud at times, but sometimes it could be tolerated. Because it would probably have cost almost as much to ship it back as it would to replace it, and how much hassle it would be to send it back. We had a complete breakdown last week. The second one (different brand) is on its way to her and hopefully it will be preferable. My dislike for amazon is not a reflection of my love for it, which has always been a positive experience. Unfortunately, it was just a poor product and I am glad it wasn't more expensive, or I would have made a claim for a refund.

I received the machine in the box as described, it was brand new (as described), and it arrived when expected, but it is noisy and It is important not to use your machine for a while and let it cool down before you go to bed.
