Upon arrival, the rewinder was in excellent condition. My first attempt at using 8mm tapes could not get the top to go down. After some trial and error, I discovered that there is a small switch at the back of the rewinder that pulls out to let the rewinder know there is a tape in there and initiate the red light that indicates it is ready for Apparently, the switch gets caught behind the tape cassette and won't allow the top to The switch can not be bent because it is made of To use the rewinder, you usually have to take a knife and push the switch at the same time that you put the cover down on You can get the tape in and the rewinder works fine after that, but it can be quite a hassle to do. This product is not something I would buy But the price was great, which makes it worthwhile to compare it to more expensive units that may or may not have similar issues.
There was only a short lifespan for the rewinder probably 4 rewind cycles. Upon opening the unit up to repair it, I discovered that all the internal gears/sprockets were made of cheap plastic with extremely loose tolerances, which caused the gears to jump out of place while in use. I once had it chew up a section of tape while rewinding it. In my case, I only had a few cassettes to rewind, and I was able to transfer the video from the damaged segment. It would be nice if I could say I got what I paid for with this product, but the quality of it is so poor that I cannot even say that. It is not a product I would recommend.
There is a problem with the switches. Eventually, one can rewind them if one works with them.
Using this sped up my camcorder and saved the motor. Rewinder is a great little device.
It does not forward or reverse, and it Waste of time!.
The program has not been as useful to me as I anticipated. In any case, it works. Using a plastic construction concerns me as far as durability goes, though I cannot be sure how well it will wear over time.
I really like this! Fast forwards and rewinds without breaking a sweat. Not as loud as other reviews claim. After about 30 or so tapes fast forwarded and rewound with no damage, no more damage occurs. My husband and I are very happy with our.
Worked for me.
