In my experience, they are used for gun cases. The handle is spring loaded, but you can remove it. This is mostly what you would see on the side of a tool box or a speaker cabinet that is too big to fit in

The handles are of good quality. They would be a great tool for any flight case. If yours is big enough, go for the "recessed handle" version as well for a better grip.

This product is well designed and manufactured, but the zinc plating corrodes over time and is a thorn in the sides, so it gets.
