The holes on the back of the headphones need to be aligned with the holes on the back of the paper even before you peel off the paper to expose the sticky part to the ears, so technically, it does matter.
On the inner portion left above the earpads, on the left side when you slide open the headphones, you will see the model number etched/printed. The location of the printer isn't clear to me. It might be on the left or right

I noticed the leather flaking off of my boyfriend's studio. The black flakes that stuck to his ears and neck would make him look like he just came out of the gym. These replacement pads were exactly what I was looking for. I bought both sets of Beats today. They look brand.
For a long time, I didn't even realize you could replace the pads on Beats headphones, so I sat with aging headphones and leather that had peeling until I happened to find these. As soon as I saw them, I ordered them and started figuring out how I'd change them (since before looking at the product I couldn't imagine how to remove the older pads). Based on a few reviews and my viewing of the video, I learned you can use a knife in many situations If the tool provided isn't working, please let me know. Using a pry bar, pry off the old pads. The leather from the old pads was shedding quite a bit, so I decided to wait until the replacement pads arrived before dismantling my headphones. The headphones had not been used in some time due to leather shedding. The new pads arrived, so I started prying the old ones off (which should be fairly easy to do using To ensure that the new ones stick to your headphones, make sure to clean any old adhesive residue with the provided wipe. The first step I personally did was wipe the headphones down with alcohol and paper towel. Once they had been cleaned, I let them sit for several minutes before removing the old pads completely (this is not necessary but I did it in order to finish other things at the same time).
Then it was a simple matter of putting the new pads on and applying pressure to make sure they stayed in place. These pads are so close to the originals I couldn't tell they weren't the originals Although the pads are not what performs noise cancellation, they still looked good as new and offered the same noise cancelling function (though these are not the pads themselves). You can use it to replace old, worn out pads or just to customize your headphones.
A good investment if you just want to give them a new color.
I'm already looking for more pads I can customize that I can use in the future. I cannot speak to durability since I've had them for less than 24 hours I'll update if I have an adverse reaction to them.
They came with a scraper tool for getting a clean surface after removing the old adhesive. Besides giving me a wet wipe to clean surfaces before installing the new covers, they also provided me with a dusting cloth. All I needed to do was replace everything in 10 minutes. You can even find instructions on the box with pictures. As well as being extremely comfortable, these covers are also very durable. Their feelings of brand newness have returned!.
