Questions & Answers

It would be great if I could connect two amplifiers and two speakers with a volume control. Is this something that will In order for the speakers to sound similar, do they need to have similar Ohm values?

What you are trying to accomplish will be achievable with this. Speakers with 8 ohms resistance are best suited to the unit. At the moment I'm using 4 ohms, but it's not the best choice. It would be better if we used one amp and two sets of speakers, and if we drove the power too much, we would blow the mono price.

Is this capable of playing both A and B speakers ?

The answer is yes. When entertaining, we use it to play music simultaneously indoors and outdoors. I love how small it is.

Would like to use larger wire for a very long run in the ports and was wondering if anyone else has used larger wire. ?

A gauge of 14 is a tight fit, but it will do. must be very careful when stripping the wire so you don't end up with stray strands when inserting it. A second option would be to use a short pigtail of 16 gauge that transitions Loses due to impedance are linear, so a few inches of 16 gauge will not affect them

Could you please tell me what gauge wire this takes?

Up to 14AWG wire gauges can be accommodated

Doesn't really block the signal, but it does the job
3/5

We have two sets of speakers outside, so I thought this would be a good purchase for them In one set, we have the patio set up and the other set we have in the rock-in style The speakers are placed in the yard (imagine the four speakers as four corners of a square ). While we have A and B connections on our receiver, we noticed the set under the patio was much louder than those on the inside due to a difference in speaker brand and design. Unlike a radio, the receiver does not allow you to change the power of A vs. B. These are the speakers in room B. In order to ensure a nice balance between each set of speakers, I bought this as a volume control. There is a lot of loss associated with this unit, even though it works The volume in the receiver had to be set at 90 out of 100 to be pleasant to listen to when both sets of speakers were connected and turned on. My solution was to connect the "B" (rock) speakers to the receiver's B speaker output while leaving this unit in for the "A" speakers, so it serves as a sort of L-shaped speaker arrangement Using a tablet. When the Monoprice unit is connected there is a sufficient loss that I had to just reduce the volume by one click with the unit connected. The end result allows us to get what we need, but not in the manner I had imagined.

Provides a cost-effective and well-thought-out solution to a common problem
5/5

It is a solid quality component that will solve a common problem at an affordable cost. I had previously purchased a distribution unit, but it sent the same voltage to all the speakers. As a result, it was necessary to disengage the indoor pair so that an outdoor pair could reproduce enough volume, as the indoor volume would have been too When this component was in place, it was easy to balance the two pairs. In the future, I don't think I'll use the volume limiters very often, and adjusting the patio pair when it isn't needed is as easy as pushing a I believe this can be considered an excellent offering, at least based on what I have observed from the outside I made a component that was much heavier than I thought with a small amount of plastic. The speaker wire connections are either cheap or inadequate in my opinion, contrary to other reviewers. The only purpose of them is just to be semi-embedded This keeps them permanently connected to screw down closures, and I believe this is what you want. There is no discernible tonal drop-off, even after disassembling the unit I can inspect the internal circuits, but I cannot see any signs of a problem. The cabinet remains cool after hours of use. No distortion is observable due to use of the device. There is every reason for me to believe the internal quality is at an equal level to This is a highly recommended book!.

I like it, but the price is a little steep

Uses multiple languages. The volume and impedance can be controlled via tap transformers. There is nothing wrong with wire connectors, but they aren't the best. All right as far as the money is concerned. The feeling that this is solid has been reported by a number of users. There could be several pairs of transformers inside the box causing them to notice the weight. Impedance is balanced and volume can be attenuated with transformers. When the volume control knobs are pressed, they click one after another. There are different taps on the transformer for each step. As of now, everything is going well. It is better to not overload this unit, or you will saturate the transformers and get distortion to match any band. * Note that the output connectors seemed like they were cheaply made. There would have been more benefits from the use of larger crimp connectors or lugs. With each connector, there is a small set screw so you can hold a plain wire stub or, better yet, one that is tinned. It is important to note that each wire connection is very close to one or two others (8 on every 2" connector strip), so be sure no bare wire is poking out at any time, since a short would damage your receiver/amp. There is only one circuit board in the box, and the output connectors are directly connected to it, but if you move the box enough, the weight and stiffness of the speaker wires can pull on the connectors enough to separate the connector strip from the board inside. If you want, you can pop it back into place, but it's not likely you'll want to do that very often. Therefore, you should not move the box about once it is set up or one or more channels may suddenly stop working. I am not complaining because this is a good value for.

I didn't know what I wanted, and you provided it! use this A/B speaker switch to replace one that occasionally cut out a speaker when playing music from my old Radio Shack
5/5

There's nothing better than this Monoprice A/B switch. The unit allows you to connect two different amps for input and two different sets of speakers for output. The mapping of inputs to outputs can also be controlled. In my garage and on my patio, I used a stereo receiver/amplifier as the input and a couple of speaker pairs. Controlling each output volume is what I like best about this program. The pros include The system features two independent inputs and two independent outputs.
*Each output has its own volume control. It's very well made and durable. Each room comes with its own label. Also, they can be used to keep your cables organized. The cons are Wire sizes larger than 14 gauge cannot be used as speaker wire. that the smaller the gauge number, the thicker the wire will be. In other words, 12AWG is larger than 14AWG.

Two sets of stereo speakers can be controlled by a well-constructed speaker switch
5/5

This is not a monoprice. It makes two sets of stereo speakers (left and right) work with one switch. This will not work with other monoprice models. My household has a 4-speaker selector around the house, and I connected the selector to one side of the Monoprice selector, and then connected our living room JBL L-Needle speakers to the other side Our home was filled with pristine, balanced sound thanks to the JBL's, which were so efficient they were significantly louder than any other speaker set, so we are pleased with how well the speakers have balanced out our sound.

It is a great way to add speakers to your home for a very small cost
5/5

The goal of getting this receiver was to expand the capabilities of our four channel vintage receiver to It was easy to hook up the wire, and the screw down connections accommodated the 14 ga wire without difficulty. We had the option of setting the volume control for each set differently, so the inside or outside speakers could be a slight difference in Since this isn't an amp, you don't get any volume boosts, just the ability to lower the volume compared to the others. However, I did not notice any significant difference in sound quality, volume or fidelity when there were two, four or six speakers in the designated zones. An excellent way to add additional speakers to an audio setup without using any high-tech equipment. Although I have not tested the additional input channel yet, I believe it should work as intended.
