I'm very pleased with them. The receiver I have is an older Technics model with 5 channels. There is one Dolby and one Due to the fact that this was made before HDMI became available, it lacks any HDMI inputs or ports Passes through. Besides the TOSS input, it has a digital one as well. Unfortunately, due to being older technology and most audio/video gear only uses HDMI, this is a bit of a problem. The plugs work with my TV, but my TV does not handle Dolby or DTS it only supports It seemed like an interesting concept and I decided to give it a shot. My receiver receives HDMI from the TV and TOSS from the HDMI passthrough. It took me a little while to notice, but my receiver automatically switched into Dolby and DTS depending on what I was watching, after starting up Amazon Prime Video on my Roku. With the same unit I used the Blu-ray player and the same results were obtained. In order to be sure I was hearing different sound through all speakers, I checked them all to be sure. HDMI is required for newly created projectors and blueray players. FINALLY, AN ANSWER has been found! It's a camp rattling cinema in my little cabin, with my cheap blueray hooked up to a cheap projector and 86" screen. It is annoying that this box's HDMI isn't a pass-through and that it needs to be turned on all the time, even when watching television. I'm not really sure what the life expectancy of one of these boxes will be, so I didn't want to leave it powered on constantly (there is no way to switch it when I am watching TV, unless I spend more). My best option was to get a Coaxial splitter so I could run it alongside my HDMI for my directv, and it did the trick. It also plugs into my stereo so it only comes on when I use it.

There was no benefit for me from this product. I was able to see but not hear video on pass through. A lot of things have been tried Different connections, cables, and inputs have been tried. I was able to pull audio from a Roku HMDI output, but ultimately I needed a digital coax output as well. I'll keep this in stock for other uses, but the other unit with the additional port ended up being a better value.
