Questions & Answers

Is this the "cleaning" kit with isopropanol, as shown in the photo, or the "repair" kit with aluminum oxide, as described?

It was fine to use aluminum oxide in the form depicted.

Although the photo depicts a cleaning solution, the text indicates that it is a repair solution. What's included in the package?

My repair crème came with a repair tube, so I put distilled water in an old tube to pre-moisten the pads one drop at a time, smear, and soften them. I hope you find this information useful.

I already had a disc repair machine, but the aggregate solution had run out, and the wheels that spin to grind out the scratches had begun to wear out
5/5

I'm hoping to get just as much use out of these new ones as I did with the old ones. I've probably fixed hundreds of CDs and DVDs, mostly DVDs that I've rented, that wouldn't play with the old wheels and solution.

It performs admirably

I've used this device to restore a number of scratched CDs and DVDs, but eventually the solution runs out and the pads wear out. As a result, this kit enables you to continue once that occurs.

Kit for Miracle Repair
5/5

This is, without a doubt, a miraculous repair kit. Almost all scratches are removed with it. For badly scratched dvds, I also use the buffer first, followed by this kit.

This kit, along with the system for inserting the disc, was a waste of time and only made things worse for the discs

It could use some polishing
4/5

Tube is too small for the price, and the unit I purchased it for still destroys a few disks.

Is it for use in a library? This is a continuation of the previous post

after a brief trial of this item, I updated my review. Overall, I'd give it a C, but with a few caveats. br>br> The Fletcher Free Library in Burlington, Vermont, has 100,000 volumes and about 2,000 CDs and 1,000 DVDs. CDs work fine for us, but we frequently receive reports that DVDs "skip," "freeze," "don't play," or are "damaged. Neither of them were scratched to the same extent as some of our DVDs. br>br> There are three functions in this *Disc Repair Plus*: Clean, Buff, and Repair each have their own set of two wheels that must be swapped out when the function is changed. br>br> It cleans no better than the manual, spray-on cleaner, but it is much more convenient. and-crank variety is a term used to describe a group of people who are When not in use, one wheel serves as an isopropyl alcohol reservoir. It also leaves a lot of whirly marks, but these have no bearing on the game. Repairing scratches with three drops of aluminum oxide paste on one wheel removes the majority of scratches but not the most severe ones. A bad disc, on the other hand, appears to be much more workable after a second Repair cycle. Despite the fact that a few serious scratches remained visible, the one I tried worked perfectly. br>br> br> br> br> br> br> br> b However, after ten repair cycles, the wheels become damp and residue forms on the discs - It's a lot. Although the Clean cycle does not remove it, you can breathe on a disc and wipe it clean with a microfiber cloth, such as those given out by opticians and sold cheaply by surplus houses. Better yet, soak the disc in water, blot it with tissue, and buff it with the cloth. Spare wheels are included, but as you can see, this isn't a fully automated, industrial-grade product. even half-strength Despite its lofty claims, it is a flawless procedure. For low-income people, this is a must

Maintaining a medium-sized disc is a difficult task. I prefer the manual method for cleaning one or two discs because you must nearly fill the reservoir in one disc before each use. br>br> And whatever is left will evaporate within a day's time, sometimes even within the same day, cap- It makes no difference whether the light is turned on or off. However, for batchbr>br>jobs, itbr>br>works just as well and is far more convenient. br>br>The repair discs also work well most of the time, but after a while, as stated in the previous post, they begin to leave residue on the discs. When this happens, I use dishbr>br>soap and water to clean them. Then I use a cloth or paper towel to dry them as much as possible. However, drying them takes a long time. br>br> But after that, they're as good as new. Mybr>br>advice is to keep track of the number of uses beforebr>br>this happens so you can optimize the number of usesbr>br>between washings while avoiding letting them get that bad. br>br>In addition, it's possible that having three people is the best option. 4 pairs of good discsbr>br>at a time (per machine if you use more than onebr>br>constantly), so you can continue repairs while the recently washed discsbr>br>are still drying: Disclamer: br>br> br> br> br> br> br> Your mileage may vary with each wash; I've only done this once and have had a low repair rate. br>br>As for buffing, it's only useful for damage up to 3 points. 4 times worse than what can be repaired with a standard repair kit. br>br> Consider the value of the recording versus the cost of materialbr>br>(the buffing pads wear down, I typically get around 80br>br>cycles/pair) and labor when dealing with the worst discs.
