Amazon Basics VGA to VGA PC Computer Monitor Cable - 10 Feet (3 Meters)

Despite its beauty and ease of use, it is a very useful cable. You do get what you pay for with cable, but it isn't cheap. It would have been better to have invested in a higher quality cable from the beginning, as I am now purchasing another one. I use this cable in my home office when I connect my laptop to a monitor with an HP docking station. When I am not on the road, I use it to connect my laptop to the monitor. My docking station helps me to not pull on the cable, so I was hoping it would last longer because I do not pull on it. I am currently experiencing screen flickering and loss of connection less than twenty months after I first experienced the problem. The issues have gotten worse progressively over the past Especially when conference calls are involved, this is incredibly frustrating.

I was having difficulty tightening it and it was impossible to screw in. VGA cables typically have "knobs" on them with something for your fingers to grip onto so you can turn them and a screw adapter so you can tighten it down with a screwdriver to prevent the cables Getting the knobs tight on the Amazon was a real challenge. They are almost smooth and very hard to I apparently bent two of the pins when I tried to connect it to one of my monitors, so I was only getting blue for the picture. Despite several attempts, the cable couldn't be straightened, so I had to throw it away and buy new cables from a different supplier. Probably my fault, but I have connected a lot of VGA cables over the years and none of them have exhibited this behavior.

We've been using our flatscreen TV as a computer monitor for ten years, so we have used a lot of VGA cables before. There's no doubt in my mind that this is the worst one I've An SHADOW can be seen in the picture. For instance, if you're on a word-processing program and the cursor is blinking in two different areas of the screen, you'll notice two distinct instances. One of these was purchased so that I could watch Netflix on my TV, but I had trouble plugging it in (my new TV has a difficult-to-reach remote), so when I saw how terrible the picture looked, I pulled out the cable and found there was a bent pin. The new one looked nearly as bad, even though the pins are all straight as an arrow. I had to send for a replacement, but the faulty one looked just as bad. I definitely did not have a problem with the pin, but I did have a problem with this product. Now, you might be thinking "many people have given this product a 5-star rating. " Maybe something else at your end (TV or computer) is at fault for your one-star review. In retrospect, I might have believed the same thing, but fortunately, I found a spare VGA cable that I had forgotten about before this order was placed. The picture was perfect and crystal clear once I plugged it into the computer, as a VGA cable should be. I am not having a problem with my computer or TV, I am having a problem with the garbage product that Amazon is selling. Amazon should be ashamed of themselves for marketing such a garbage product under their name.

Even though the cable is of good quality and does its job well, its installation is a bit difficult. In order for VGA cables to be securely attached to computers, they come with two screws on the male end. Since VGA cables tend to become loose, these two screws are designed to secure the cable in place. There is generally space on the end of the screw handle so that a screw driver can be used, and it is large enough to grasp. A slotted end is not on the ends of this cable, and the handle on it is too small. In order to install a VGA cable on a monitor, I have to use a screw driver since typically monitors do not provide enough clearance around their connectors (see attached photo). Due to the lack of a slot, I had to use needle nose pliers to secure the handles. It was still difficult, however, because the handles on the cable are so small. There is only one frustrating design flaw, but this cable is otherwise a great product. One big complaint I have has to do with the screw sleeves almost being As they are packed along with other cables behind the back panel of a computer or monitor, it is very hard to grab the cable My heart breaks to dock a star for that, since it's clear Amazon went to great lengths to manufacture a very sturdy plug. However, the screw sleeves are an absolute pain to work around Alternatively, I would prefer to see a hexagonal shaft with a groove on the back for a flathead screwdriver to replace them. It would also be nice to have an extra eighth inch of bolt shaft.

The first thing I want to say is The cable is only a VGA cable, they're hard to get excited about any more. My plan was to use the cable to debug a server motherboard that only includes an integrated VGA graphics chip. HDMI and DVI might seem like they have completely replaced VGA now, but that has not been the case! I tried it out electrically and it worked In my case, it was as good an image as you can get It does not contain any ghosting or artifacts from the cable. I lowered my rating of this product by 2 stars because the retaining screws on one end of the cable were difficult In order to make them easy to grip, they have a large nobbly end, but the rest of the body impedes their use. As a result, the screws heads are located very close to the monitor back, which makes the problem even It would have been better if the screw driver slot was on the end of the screw, and they could have been made all metal instead of having a pressed plastic end.
