I have a 2018 MacBook Pro, which is fairly new. When this device is plugged in, it immediately turns off the wifi card. After a lot of troubleshooting, I realized I wouldn't be able to use wifi on my MacBook if I used this dongle. That is, without a doubt, a serious problem. But wait, there's more! According to the manufacturer, this device can connect to two external monitors. This is not possible because the device lacks the necessary capabilities. My MacBook Pro only reads this device's input as a single monitor, so you can extend to both monitors, but they'll both show the same inputs, making a dual monitor setup impossible. up is a waste of time. With the new MacBook Pros, you can save time and money by avoiding this dongle.
Before writing this review, I had this dongle for about two weeks and put it through a variety of tests. This is what I'm using on my new Dell XPS 13 7390 laptop. The good news is that it is extremely well constructed while remaining relatively small in comparison to the number of ports it contains. I put it to the test at work and was able to get dual HDMI 1080p monitors to work for a short time. I lost one of the monitors after disconnecting and reconnecting in between meetings, and I was never able to get both working again. However, it performed admirably when driving a single monitor. That was disappointing, so I'm relegating this to use at home, where I only have one monitor (a Dell 1440p monitor) that this adapter drives well over Displayport. br>br>All of the other connections work fine, though I did have an issue with a power surge through the USB when plugging in a portable hard drive, which was more of a fault of the computer not having enough bus power to drive all of the peripherals that were connected (which also included a bus powered To fix this, I plugged the laptop's power adapter into the dongle's PD slot, which provided its own bus-powered power supply. Without drawing power from the laptop, all connected peripherals have power. This is convenient because it keeps my audio interface powered on even when the laptop is disconnected from the dongle (if the interface turns off, the speakers make an audible pop).
Last thing I will mention is that when I used Dell's original 45W power adapter through the PD slot, my laptop warned me it was charging s The problem was solved by switching to a higher-wattage power adapter (60W), which removed the warning. I hope this review helped you understand how I use this device!.
I've had a slew of docking stations over the years. This one from Lasuney has the most ports out of all of them. Three standard USB A ports, two HDMI with independent video, SD and microSD ports, a full-size display port, and an Ethernet port are all supported by a single sub C port. I put three USB thumb drives, an SD card, and an ethernet cable into my NAS to test it out. I began transferring a 10GB file from each of these to my laptop, as well as one from the laptop to the NAs. While observing the speed, I noticed that each one dropped around 20% the speed when another was added. The first transfer began, and by the time the last one was completed, the speed had dropped to less than half of what it had been. I was pleased to see that this had 5 transfers going at the same time. The transfer to the NAs only decelerated by about 2010% from the original transfer speed. That strikes me as impressive. The paint around the HMDI ports is chipping a little, which is the only drawback I have. It has no bearing on performance; only aethetics are affected. I also wish there were two USB C ports on this device for connecting to my laptop. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the device. br>Now for the specifics:
9. To ensure they weren't idetical files, 9GB files were created by splicing several videos together in different order. br>Transfer 1 starts at 75 Mb/s and ends at 50 Mb/sbr>Transfer 2 starts at 73 Mb/s and ends at 49 Mb/sbr>Transfer 3 starts at 72 Mb/s and ends at 47 Mb/sbr>Transfer 4 (microSD) starts at 10 Mb/s and ends at 8 Mb/sbr>Transfer to NAS wired ethernet starts at 74 Mb/s and ends I thought the file transfer would be faster than that, but when I compared it to my system ethernet it was about 10 faster than that. For all of this to run through a single USB C port, it's pretty good. br>br>Finally, I'd like to say something. I am being compensated for writing a review; as a beta tester, they are refunding the cost of the product; however, I explained to them that the review would be unbiased and honest; if the dock was bad, I would say so. These are my unvarnished findings and thoughts. It's a good product; I'm not sure how long it'll last, but if it dies too soon, I'll update my review to reflect that.
For travelers, this is a very useful device. When I first received the device, I was blown away by how well it was constructed. My laptop has a lack of ports, especially on these Windows Ultrabooks, so it matches my aluminum case. Fortunately, I have a USB C port, which is exactly what I need in a device like this. br>br>I plugged it into my Windows 10 Pro laptop and it recognized all of the devices right away:
- USB Gbe ethernet port by Realtekbr>- SuperSPeed USB Hub and USB Hubbr>- a reader for SD cardsbr>- HDMI and DisplayPort are two types of connectors. br> br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>b The text/icons on the various ports are well-organized, and you can't go wrong with a PC because all ports are designed to fit only one way. br>br>Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase because it fulfills all of my requirements for a USB hub. The only thing they really need to do now is add some RGB lights for those gamers who enjoy lighting up their surroundings, as well as possibly some Qi charging. br>br> If you're going to get a USB hub, this should suffice for the time being.
