If you read the manual for the 600AH batteries and up on this page, you'll notice that you CAN TURN OFF ALL ALARMS! Although I would not recommend turning off the LOW BATTERY alarm, you can do so! The 425, however, I'm not sure about. You can, however, look up the manuals for all of them because they not only make them available, but they also encourage you to read them before purchasing! It's nice to have that kind of information on hand.
Mine died three months after the three-year mark, with little to no on-going care. Use of a battery br>br>I would HIGHLY recommend upgrading to the 600 model to get a replaceable battery option in case your battery dies in the future. Because this unit lacks such a feature, it is a complete waste of electronic resources.
The vast majority of people are unaware that the rating (e.g., A+, B+, C+, D+, E Whether the battery is rated at 450 or 1,000 mAh has no bearing on runtime.br>I have old APC 250s and 500s that all use the same battery. br>br>It's just that the 500s are more powerful. br>You want a back that is longer. Get something with more than one battery than this if you want to extend your battery life. br>br>While most modern 350s have smaller batteries, this one has the largest battery available. To respond to your query: br>br> br>br>PowerChute reports that I'm currently (pardon the pun) using 33 watts and that this model has 68 minutes of runtime. br>br>However, this does not imply that you will be able to run for 6 hours on only 5 watts, because no one knows how efficient the power conversion is, not to mention the overhead. br>br>On such a low current draw, I'd guess the person who said they got 3 hours on just a router and a modem was right.
IOW: br>Just to run, the UPS will most likely consume more power.
For the benefit of others, the replacement battery will require T2 style terminals rather than F1 style terminals, which are more common in that size. I only know of one reliable seller who has one, and that is the BAT- XREF- 12V5A- RefurbUPS has created a square.

We used the 350s and replaced the batteries as needed, and many of them lasted 8 to 10 years. I bought this unit because the 350 was being phased out and I wanted to give it a good workout. First and foremost, the unit has a flimsy feel to it. The battery, on the other hand, appears to be PURPOSELY DESIGNED NOT TO BE REPLACED. The battery on the old 350s was extremely easy to access. This device has DEEPLY RECESSED security bits, which appear to be designed to prevent the battery from being replaced. Not to be deterred, I placed an order for a unique set of NARROW deep security bits. They aren't narrow enough, unfortunately. I'm going to see if I can use a DRILL BIT to open the screw access holes so I can get to the battery. Obviously, this will have to be done carefully. TOO MUCH WORK JUST TO USE APC, TOO MUCH WORK, TOO MUCH WORK, TOO MUCH WORK, You might be satisfied if you like to "BUY IT and TOSS IT. " I believe you will be VERY DISAPPOINTED if you are accustomed to APC QUALITY. Update. br>br> Using a 1 Phillips screwdriver with a 3/16 shank and a 5 inch long shank, I was able to open the unit. My fears were confirmed when I discovered what I did. br>It's a shoddy piece of equipment. Unlike older units, the circuitry is not isolated from the battery. The battery does not even say 'APC,' and the wire connectors on the supplied Chinese battery were crimped to the battery. One came off with some difficulty, while the other would have required far too much force, and I was afraid I'd pull the battery post out. Overall, a VERY SAD reflection on what was once a great American corporation. I have no objections to a company wanting to reduce manufacturing costs, but there is no reason to sacrifice QUALITY in the process. br>I've included photos of the unit's interior, as well as the battery and an 'original' APC battery. SAD, SoonToFailAPC is an acronym for SoonToFailAPC is an acronym for SoonToFailAPC is an acronym for Soon.
THE BACK-UP PERIOD BEGINS ONE DAY AFTER THE RETURN PERIOD. THE ROUTER WAS TURNED OFF AND UP WENT DEAD- MODEM! br>I plugged it in today and it appears to work fine; however, an APC you can't trust is even worse- less. br>br> AFTERWRITING SCRIPT: MARCH 17, 2017 MARCH 17, 2017 MARCH 17, 2017 MARCH 17, 2017 MARCH 17, 2017 MAR After collaborating with the manufacturer on some basic APC testing, they discovered that the battery back-up was defective. because the first unit was defective, we sent you a replacement with pre-installed software. They were reimbursed for the cost of returning the defective unit to them. While they were still an annoyance, they did improve the unit.
In comparison to previous models, the newer models have a much better design. Since purchase, there hasn't been a complete power outage, but it seems to handle the occasional surge or brownout. After a complete power outage, I would have approximately 9 minutes to safely shut down, according to the monitoring software I already had installed (NOT APC's). My computer is a tower computer with two monitors and speakers. This will not allow you to use your computer for an extended period of time; it will only give you enough time to save your work and shut it down. I'd make another purchase. The "monitoring" software provided by APC is incompatible with Windows 10 Pro. YMMV. br>**Update 09/27/17*
Had a fascinating discussion with APC technical support. Any device with a value less than a 750 will fail to be detected by the PowerChute software. All new model devices (such as this one and the 600 will NOT be able to function if the load reaches 70% or higher, and begin emitting a "burning odor" (without any Although the technician was unable to provide proof of this documentation, he assured me that it was "well-known" and "working as intended. ".
Do not make a purchase. I like APC UPS products, but I'm not sure what they were thinking when they designed these low-cost models. The yellow plug used to connect the battery on the first one I ordered had a problem. It wouldn't go all the way into place. It would connect the battery, but the unit would no longer fit flush on a desk due to the connector being on the bottom. It would simply sway. Quality control is lacking. The service provided by Amazon was excellent. They swapped out the UPS for a new one. The yellow battery connector on the second unit did not cause any issues. It did, however, have an issue with the ground wiring. The red light would remain solid, indicating a ground fault, and the UPS would not turn off the outlets' battery power. I responded to Amazon's customer service request. Again, support was excellent, but nothing we tried seemed to resolve the problem. Finally, I was given a refund and told that a higher-end model would be preferable. Don't bother with these low-cost, low-quality devices. APC, what went wrong? Not just high-end products, but all of them, should be backed by your good name. units at the conclusion.
A USB management connection is not available on the 425. Unlike the other products in this series, the 425va does not include a USB management connection. In the description, this should be clearly stated. Nothing on the APC website indicates that this is any different. Furthermore, due to the large battery, Amazon will not allow me to return the item. They should have labeled it as non-profit. it is possible to return it I'm dissatisfied because I would have gladly paid more for the next level up if I had known this lacked the features I require.
