Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) with 1000VA / 600W battery backup
4 outlets provide UPS battery power backup and surge protection, while 4 outlets only provide surge protection.
Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) ensures that safe voltage levels are maintained without the use of backup battery power.
When the power goes out, an APC battery backup with surge protection ensures that computers, external hard drives, and other electronics, including your wireless router, stay powered up so you can keep your IoT devices connected when you need it most.
Intelligent battery management maximizes battery performance, life, and reliability by charging intelligently and precisely. For main operations, the input voltage range is 88 to 148 volts.

Questions & Answers

Is it compatible with a Corsair power supply that features Active Power Factor Correction (PFC)? If you like the TX and AX series, this is the place to be. ?

Just wanted to point out that this UPS works great with non-APFC power supplies like my Corsair Platinum HX1000i. I can't say for sure if it has a compatibility issue with APFC power supplies, but I'd assume that if there was a widespread problem, APC would take the time to explain it. However, I see that two people here claim that it does not work with a Dell XPS 9000 in particular. To be safe, if your computer has an APFC power supply, I'd do a quick search on Google to see if anyone has confirmed it works. Most APFC PSUs should work fine, but I'd double-check for your model. Other than Dell xps 9000 psu's, I'm sure there are other psu's out there that are sin wave sensitive. Obviously, this will not work with a Dell XPS 9000; )br>(PS, Matt's HX850 isn't an APFC power supply, so I'd ignore his comments about 2/3 and so on.)

How long will your computer, monitor, and phone keep working if the power goes out?

Other answers claim 30 to 45 minutes of power, depending on what you connect to the battery support; don't buy one if you plan to use your devices during an extended outage and rely on a battery that isn't being recharged. While I haven't had an extended outage with this unit yet, you (or I) would be warned of a threatening storm and possible outage and shut down early under normal circumstances. Because cell towers are as vulnerable as landlines, and recharging a cellphone is possible using this APC, I plan to keep my low voltage base home phone connected even with a cellphone so that I have another means of communication. My goal is to avoid data loss by using a power blink shutdown. For a few seconds, the TV, lights, cable box, modems, and the damn desktop all turned off. While everything else reboots or waits to be turned back on, this APC supports the desktop. Surge protection is in place for everything connected to the APC.

Is it possible for the APC BR1000G to provide "clean" constant power for an extended period of time if it is connected to a regular so-called power supply? referred to as a "dirty" power generator?

It appears that this is not the case. Now that I'm using a generator, I've tweaked the sensitivity. Although the APC "sees" 115v input, it switches to battery power until the battery dies. It will not provide or charge itself with dirty electricity.

I'm thinking about getting one for my PowerMac G5 Quad. Will it give you enough time to save and shut down, or will it give you just enough time to save and shut down? Outages of two minutes? Power consumption is rated at: Idle power is 185 watts, with a maximum power consumption of 550 watts. ?

At the moment, I'm using Windows 8 on a desktop PC with a Viewsonic 22" monitor. 1 has a Canon IJ printer ready to go. I've also got a zoom wireless router, a Cisco DVR, a Denon amp, a Panasonic 60" plasma TV, and a PS3 covered. It appears that the UPS would cover the current hardware, which consumes 390 watts of power on a continuous basis, for a period of ten minutes. I believe the maximum power coverage is 780 watts for two minutes. I turned off everything except the computer and its peripherals, and the power draw was 15 watts, which meant it could run for two hours. 8 min. I hope you find this information useful.

When it matters most, he's unreliable
3/5

My first APC UPS lasted three years before failing due to a battery failure in 2012. Meh. For the sum of $120, you can have three years of life. Not bad. After my single, old, out-of-date APC UPS failed in 2015, I purchased three APC UPS models BR1000G. One is for my entertainment system, another is for my home server stack, and the third is for my PC collection. After ten years of home ownership and sporadic power outages, I finally received a proper, equipment-damaging power outage from SMUD in September 2019. My APC appliances, on the other hand, haven't done so well. My entertainment center's UPS package arrived. Despite the fact that the center was not operational at the time of the power surge, the APC battery was completely depleted in less than three hours by simply powering an alarm clock. After this power spike, another APC device, a surge protector, failed. br>br>In other words, either this particular power spike (one of many my house has experienced since 2009) was unusual and confused my APC items, or APC has failed to protect me from simple electrical abnormalities in some way. br>br>To summarize, I am unable to continue using APC products. I require impenetrable defense against simple electrical voltage/current fluctuations. With my money, I'm going to give Eaton a shot. I work at a chemical plant in Folsom, California, and we have a lot of Eaton motor and control devices. I'll let you know in a month or two (starting in September 2019) whether the APC to Eaton switch was a good decision.

For years, it has performed admirably

I have these on the computers in my office and my wife's office, as well as the DTV main box and a few other items around the house that I don't want to lose power. br>br>I've had most of them for 7 years on the original batteries with no problems, though one died after about 5 years, well past the battery's stated life, and wouldn't charge the battery any longer. That one had been in storage for a few months, which could have resulted in the batteries being pre-charged. By allowing it to drain too far, you can mature death. br>br>These have some nice features that you can set up if you want, or you can just leave them as battery backups without connecting for those extra features, such as alerts when on battery and so on. If you live in an area where there are frequent power outages or brownouts, you understand how frustrating it is to lose power on your computer. We have one on the DTV box because it has to rebuild its menu after every flicker, which takes several minutes. br>br>We have one on the DTV box because it has to rebuild its menu after every flicker, which takes several minutes. br>br> This makes it impossible for that to happen in the future. The combination of power saving and regular outlets allows us to plug the surround speakers into a power saving outlet so that they turn off with the TV, but the DTV box remains powered. br>br>We used this to power our 65" TV and speakers for at least 20 minutes while trying to finish watching a show during a power outage, so the battery life is excellent.

It's ideal for putting your PS4 to bed
5/5

mode. I needed something to back-up my claims. My PS4 is powered up. I was constantly putting my PS4 into sleep mode, which is a cool feature, but power blips would frequently shut it down without warning overnight. I looked into several UPSes and was about to purchase one that cost $60, but after reading reviews, I discovered that it did not have an "auto-shutdown" feature. It doesn't have a "restart" feature, so I can't use it for my needs. Consider this scenario: the PS4 is in sleep mode, the power goes out for 5 seconds, the UPS enters battery mode, and the UPS does not return to power-on mode. When the power is restored, return to line mode. As a result, your PS4 will continue to run on battery power until the battery is completely depleted, at which point it will turn off. True, the PS4 could survive the night on standby power from the UPS battery, but this scenario didn't appeal to me. br>br>When I looked into it, it appeared to have an "auto restart" feature. It was a little more expensive, but I figured it would be useful in other ways. I placed an order for it, and it arrived very quickly (thank you, Amazon). It appears to be a very well-designed unit. br>br> It does exactly what it says. It has a nice display that shows the power consumption, estimated run time, and remaining time. You can also choose to have it muted. By unplugging my PS4 from the wall, I was able to test it in sleep mode. It was a huge success. When I plugged it in again, it went back to line-power mode. br>br>Excellent product for my needs!.

APC's Customer Support is terrible, and the product is defective right out of the gate
3/5

Amazon, on the other hand, was fantastic and promptly sent me a replacement unit. I just got my backup, and the battery is dying while it's set to 121 /-. Since it was not connected during shipping, the AC was removed and the battery was installed correctly. I tried twice to resend the battery, and it shows the battery bars as it should, but it won't hold the charge. Tech support, by the way, is a farce. Scripts are read in a standard manner. br>As usual, Amazon was fantastic and is sending me a replacement unit, which I am hoping will be as good as the first.

Winter is here
5/5

I live in an area where not only do I have a lot of winter storm outages, but I also have a lot of summer outages due to Kamikaze Squirrels leaping onto the transformer across the street. When my Lab (RIP) heard a loud BOOM, she thought God was sending her popcorn squirrels treats and would look skyward with delight. Needless to say, in my area, a good UPS for my computer system, printer, and other electronic devices is required to protect them not only from sudden outages, but also from frequent power blips. br>br>I've had an old barebones APC for a few years and was planning on just replacing the battery, but I finally decided to look into a new one instead, and I'm glad I did. The APC Pro has a lot more features than my old, bare-bones APC, which I really like. I especially like that even when it's fully charged, I have a lot more time to stutter. I jumped out of bed, grabbed the bedside flashlight, tripped over my cell phone cable, found my phone on the floor, and picked up everything I knocked off the bedside table while trying to turn "on" the lamp; and STILL be able to shut everything down in plenty of time:.
