Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use this product for both my TV cord and my computer cord?

There are "power" cable kits available from this company as well. The low voltage cable management kits are intended for use with HDMI, Ethernet, or coax cable (for cable television), not power cords. While there may never be a problem with this and the cord will fit, tv power cords and other similar power cords have been known to cause many house fires. It's not good to have the source of the fire start from within your own walls. Legrand offers a variety of options for power and low-voltage cable management. Although it is a little more costly, I believe my family is well worth it!

Is there enough room in this unit for two HDMI cables, one coax, and speaker wires?

That shouldn't be an issue, but it might be a tight squeeze. It's worth noting that there are newer HDMI cables available that are significantly thinner than standard cables and would make things easier. You also mention speaker wires, which leads me to believe that your set-up includes a receiver. If that's the case, and it supports HDMI switching, you can get rid of all but one HDMI cable from your TV.

Is a surge protector still required, and if so, can one be integrated with this device?

A surge protector is simple to install. Simply connect the surge protector to the wall, then the CMK70 to the surge protector.

Is it possible to connect this item to multiple cords? Is it possible to connect a speaker bar, a game console, and a cable box to my television via the wall, for example?

Yes, mutilated cables can be run through a wall. The antenna is connected by two HDMI cables and a coax cable. Simply follow the instructions; I ordered this for my in-laws so that I could hang their television as well. I hope this has been of assistance.

This is an excellent set
5/5

It was a fantastic Legrand kit! I considered hiring someone to run my wires for me, but I'm glad I didn't. I've been pretty handy as a single woman for most of my life (I'm 48), but this was a first for me. The installation of the Legrand kit was simple and straightforward. The only issue I had was that when I was hand drilling the hole in the wall, the handle that connects to the round bit that actually cuts the hole became stripped. As a result, it's worth getting your drill out and connecting the bit to it. Only because I didn't have long enough hdmi and optical cables did it take a little longer than expected. If you have to unscrew the round box that sits in the wall, DO NOT unscrew the screws all the way or the little plastic flappy wing things that tighten the round box down will come loose. Finally, I was pleased with myself for completing it; now I can add it to my list of accomplishments around the house.

It's a good product, but make sure it'll work on your wall first! This seemed like it would be simple, and it would have worked on some walls
4/5

However, our living room, like many others, requires the television to be mounted on an exterior wall. In fact, the wall directly across from the electrical box is very close by. br>br>I also used the hole saw to drill my first hole about 7" left of the left stud, after finding two 16" spaced studs (where I had installed my TV mount). Ha ha! For some reason, the house's builders decided to add an extra stud about 6" from the next one. So there was my first big hole, which I couldn't use and had to patch. To install this, you'll obviously need a completely free space. I continued to pierce the ground. I tried drilling a new set of holes that I thought would work, but I couldn't get the wires past the insulation, wiring, and pipes. Finally, I drilled a fifth hole, this time only drilling the low hole and checking to see if I could get the high hole up to the desired height before drilling it. This one went into a cavity with no insulation, but pipes and electrical wiring were too dense to be fished past; overall, I'm lucky I didn't drill into a pipe or a live wire, because I could have been seriously hurt. That's on me, but I'd argue that unless you built the house, there's always the risk of wires being behind where you're drilling, so proceed with caution! br>br>Overall, this is a good product, but I'd advise you to do two things before buying it:
1. Unless you have a really good stud finder (I've never used one that worked well other than the magnet ones that find nails), pound some nails in at the width of the hole saw to make sure your hole is clear of studs. That way, if you hit a stud, you'll only have a nail hole to spackle instead of a 3 inch hole.
2. Consider whether you'd be better off with an outside-the-house solution if you're dealing with an exterior wall. instead of using a wall They have paintable ones, so you can make it almost undetectable and save yourself a lot of time ripping up your walls.

This kit is superior to others
5/5

I've probably used 5 different power kits like this, and this one is the best; it includes everything you need, including the right size hole saw and flex rod to pull the wire through your wall. The flex rod is actually quite impressive; it has more play than some of my professional glow rods. I think I'll use them again in the future. br>br>One thing to keep in mind is that the hole saw that comes with it appears to fit your standard impact driver, but it's just a smidgeon too big. The hole saw comes with a handle, but it's made of plastic and slipped when I tried to use it. But that was no problem; I simply grabbed a crescent wrench and yanked on at the arbor, and the hole was cut perfectly in no time. br>br>I had this installed in about 20 minutes. I paid around 42 dollars for this, and I'd say the 5-star rating is worth around 50 dollars. The value begins to decline after that. I'm glad I chose this one because it was the same price as all of the other low-cost kits.

This kit is almost perfect for what it's supposed to be used for
5/5

It comes with everything you'll need, including a hole saw and a fishing rod made of cable. Because the product is so refined, I have a strong impression that it has gone through several iterations. The fact that you don't have to deal with cutting a rectangular hole is a huge plus. I'm not sure why they don't say it louder, but the wire IS rated for in-home use. wall use. br>br>Of course, because the outlet is recessed, you won't be able to use a bulky or right-angled extension cord. plug with a different angle Although the T handle that comes with the hole saw is probably fine for softer drywall, I recommend using a drill to saw the hole. The hole is large enough to fit a large hand through, which makes it easier to fish the cables through if your walls are insulated. To install it, you must first separate the trim ring from the receptacle, and removing it without giving it a hard yank can be difficult. It's not going to fall apart on you. br>br> I wish they had a 2-person version. I purchased a cheap Y adapter cable that tucked behind the TV and allowed me to plug in my sound bar.

Simple kit to hide your wires in a neat and tidy manner
5/5

I've already used a few of these in my home. They're simple to put together and include all of the necessary components. The inside-the-wall power cord is much longer than I've ever required. It's about five feet long, and I can't imagine many televisions being mounted higher than five feet above the other end. To avoid having to remove the faceplates after installation, I would run all of your cabling (HDMI, Ethernet, etc. ) at the same time. Most situations can be accommodated by the opening. You can easily fit 3 to 4 thinker cables into the opening. It comes with a long 'extension' power cord (the cord that runs from the bottom of the face plate to your power outlet). That's a lot more time than I've ever needed. I bought a smaller cord on Amazon for a cleaner installation because I didn't want to deal with an extra cord.
