Questions & Answers

Is this a Cat6 cable in the true sense of the word? Do you have any suggestions?

Yes, it's a Cat6 cable in its purest form. Category 6 cable data speeds necessitate tight twisting of the wires in each of the four pairs, as well as the use of a spider or divider in the shape of a cross to separate the pairs. Because the data speeds of Cat 5 and Cat 5e are slower, this cable can also handle Cat 5 and Cat 5e and uses the same Ethernet connectors.

Is this compatible with my Poe security camera system? I've got an nvr and a poe camera set up, but I need a poe cable to connect the nvr to the camera. ?

Yes, I've been running four POE cameras over this cable for the past six months, with a 1GB interface and an average of 40MBs per second. I've got two of these cables in a trunk between managed switches and they're working great, so I'm ordering two more to trunk another set of switches.

Is it simple to roll this up? Doesn't get the snags and crimps, that is? Can anyone recommend a cable with a more rounded jacket if this is not the case?

This is the best there is, especially for the price. I'm aware of the old, flimsy R45 jacks. These cables are the best you can get. I would recommend a higher-end solution unless you have a time-critical medical machine or application that requires continuous operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Is it rated for use against a wall?

The cable is rated for use in walls, according to the information on the page. TIA/EIA 568B is the name of the standard. 2 compliant and follows the ISO/IEC 11801 standard.

It's a pain
3/5

Despite the fact that they are clearly Cat6, they are not Cat6. It's a pain. Despite the fact that the Amazon product header clearly states "Cat 6, 550 MHz," and "10 Gigabits per second," these are not Cat6. " This is not the case. I purchased four, installed three, and discovered while installing the fourth that they are NOT CAT6. They do not support a frequency of 550 MHz. I went to the Mediabridge website and looked up the product part number, which turned out to be Cat5e with 350MHz support. Cat5e stands for "Gigabit Network Support at 350MHz," according to the website. It does not state 550MHz, Cat6, or that it supports "10 Gigabits per second" speeds, as stated in the Amazon product description. Now I have to go through the pain of removing these cables from walls and ceilings, purchasing four new genuine Cat6/550MHz cables, and reinstalling what I was supposed to get the first time.

It's a Cat 6 cable, in case you were wondering
5/5

There was no signal or packet loss while working at full gigabit throughput. Contrary to the claims of some reviewers who can't be bothered to read the 'Cat 6' printed on the cable or actually test the product, it is a genuine Cat 6 supporting 550 mhz. br>br>Excellent cable construction. The gauge is thick and the shielding is adequate. This is real copper, not cheap copper-aluminum-copper-copper-copper-copper-copper- Skating can be found in shady sellers' products. The RJ45 plug fits snugly into the LAN ports on my router, and I had no trouble getting it in. br>br>Comes in a resealable bag with velcro cable management ties included. If I need more ethernet cables, I will definitely buy them again.

After the 30-day return period, there is no warranty
3/5

Before you buy this product, read the Warranty and Support statement carefully. You get a standard 30-day return period and that's it. My unit broke down about 60 days after I purchased it, so I contacted Mediabridge. Their terse response was that their warranty "does not extend to any product damaged by misuse (including use for purposes other than those intended), acts of God, fire, flood, or other circumstances beyond Mediabridge's control. " That is to say, if you actually use the cable for anything, Mediabridge will not support it, and you will be out of luck. I cannot recommend this brand because of their complete lack of customer service and support, and I suggest you go with a different seller. As my new supplier, I selected Cable Matters.

Cable that is both strong and flexible - It's worth noting that it's protected by connectors
5/5

This is a sturdy but flexible cable that has handled data transfer without issue so far. br>br>Here's something to keep in mind: This is one of those cables with guards on the plastic latches (by "latch," I mean the springy plastic piece that clicks into place when the cable is plugged in). When the cables are not plugged in, these guards keep the latches from getting snagged on things and breaking off. However, if you're plugging the cable into a smaller opening (like the recessed plug hole on the back of my printer), the guards may get in the way. You can either bend the guard piece backwards (as I did) or cut it off in this case. br>br>These plastic guards irritate some people, so I thought I'd bring it up!.

If a wired connection isn't providing the speed you're looking for
4/5

I have FIOS quantum gigabyte internet service, and speedtest shows that the heaviest-using devices get around 250-500 Mbps. 300 Mbps over wifi (use the quantum router in bridge mode with an Orbi system). However, one of my upstairs connections, which is connected via a power line adapter, has never been able to get above 100. The other power line adapters are working perfectly. br>br> br>br>It never occurred to me that a cable could be stifling the upstairs power line, but that's exactly what happened. Cat 6 cables were used to connect the other power lines, which were installed more recently. This cable has been switched upstairs. The computer on the second floor is now screaming.

On my laptop, I am unable to maintain an ethernet connection
3/5

In most cases, I would not write a cable review. Companies understand how to make ethernet cables with the correct number of twists for the data rates, as well as the necessary connections at each end. This cable, on the other hand, is an outlier. It now does all of the electrical work correctly, but it has a flaw that makes it less than ideal for use with a laptop. A flexible tab from the cable's boot arching over to the RJ45's release tab can be seen on both ends. This is supposed to aid in the cable's removal from the socket. This tab is now down on the desktop or other surface, releasing the connection in the socket, as most laptops get thinner and thinner. As a result, your network connection is down due to a loss of ethernet link. I had no choice but to cut the flexible tab off.

I was successful in completing my task
5/5

I recently moved into a small 1 bedroom APT and required Ethernet to be run through the wall to the other APT, where the tenant has Gigabit FiOS. Wifi from their new Quantum Gateway is notoriously bad, and since I had a Gigabit connection, I KNEW I shouldn't use it. I had a feeling I'd have to be hardwired. I'd only ever had a Comcast 25/25 connection in Florida, and my uncle on Long Island had a 150/150, but I'd never had a Gigabit connection before, so I had to have it. br>br>I wanted to go with 75 feet, but I decided to go with 100 feet instead. I ended up with about 20 feet left over, which I coiled loosely and neatly stored behind my desk with the supplied velcro clip. I also ordered the Darller 200 Pack of nail-in cable clips, which finished off the job nicely. br>br>I wanted the installation to be as unobtrusive as possible, so I bought white ethernet cable and ran it along the baseboards, up and around the doors behind the TV stand behind the fridge in my APT that goes right into her APT into a closet, and then up and around the baseboards up and around her bedroom door behind her dresser into the router. Cat5e is rated at 1 Gigabit per second up to 100 meters (328 feet), so a 100-foot cable will easily carry Gigabit speeds. However, this is a cat6 cable rated at 10 Gbps over a distance of 55 meters (180 feet), and this cat 6 is backwards compatible with both 5e and 5, despite the fact that no one in their right mind would use direct cat5. br>br>It took me 30 minutes to run the wire between the two apartments and clip it together. Walk in the park with your cake! Overall, for the price and Prime 2-day shipping, I'm happy with the cable. It is impossible to make a mistake.
