Questions & Answers

Is each port completely isolated, allowing some to have power over ethernet (POE) and others to not?

It's a patch panel for connecting data cables. The cable must be terminated on a daily basis. Which ports have POE and which ports don't depends on the switch you're using.

What is the size of the wall bracket's actual footprint?

It's a standard 66 bracket, so the size can be found quickly.

Is it possible to plug in cat6 cables?

Cat6 is thicker than Cat5 due to the separation insulation between the pairs, so you won't be able to mount it behind the panel unless you only use some/most of the ports and don't run all of your cables to one end.

Will this patch panel work for me? I'm looking for a patch panel that allows me to connect 1 Ethernet line in and up to 10 lines out. ?

This is not the way to go if you want to increase the number of active internet lines. You terminate lines that go to rooms/zones where you'll have wired devices at the patch panel. A switch will provide you with more lines like the one in your question. One line in a switch uploads to activate the other lines, allowing your network to grow. One line is fed into a 12-port switch, making 11 ports active.

What do I like about it? Well, pretty much everything
4/5

I haven't seen it mentioned, but I can temporarily mount the patch panel 180 degrees backwards (see photo) so that the 110 style connectors are easily accessible while my RJ45 patch cords are still connected to working circuits on the other side of the patch panel. This makes it simple to add ethernet drops without interfering with existing ethernet connections made with RJ45 patch cords connected to the patch panel's other side. br>br>For the curious, my house was previously wired (prior to my purchase) with 8 wire cat-5 cabling. The blue and orange pairs were used for two voice (telephone) circuits by the original installer, just like cable. I was the first person to enter information. Because the orange pair was already dedicated to the second voice circuit, I used the green and brown pairs for data instead of the normal orange pair in a 4-way configuration. data circuit with wires With that 4-core processor, you won't be able to get 1 gHz. I can easily distribute a 50 Mbps Internet connection received via DSL using wire wiring. Yes, there is WiFi in my home. br>br> But I'd had enough of staring at a rat's nest of wires. The two phone circuits (mentioned above) were connected to a dozen or so points throughout my house using a 66 block, with the brown and green pairs simply left hanging by the original installer. I had added a few connectors to the unused brown and green wiring to connect my modem/router to a couple of points in my house, but it was mostly a rats nest of unused brown and green wiring. So, for a few dollars (and a lot of spare time right now), I can make those connections look nice. Cheap thrills? Perhaps. br>br>Only one remark: This panel can be used with a Krone-style tool, according to the advertisement. My newly purchased punch down tool came with a Krone style blade in addition to a 110 style blade, so I gave it a quick test. The Krone style blade wouldn't fit into the connectors on this panel without breaking them, which I feared would happen if I used force. I wasn't going to test this panel with a Krone style blade because it works so well with a 110 style blade, but I have my doubts. If you live in the United Kingdom, you may receive a slightly different panel or, if you don't already have one, you may need to purchase a 110 punch down tool. br>br>Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.

This Dshot12 Port UTP 10 inch Cat5e Network Wall Mount Surface Patch Panel has excellent quality for the price, and I am very satisfied with it
5/5

Over the years, I've used numerous network Wall Mount Surface Patch Panel. In fact, the project next to this was one I put in 5 or 6 years ago, and it cost twice as much as this one. This Dshot12 Port UTP 10 inch Cat5e Network Wall Mount Surface Patch Panel is well worth using, in my opinion. Everything you need, including an easy-to-read wire map color code, solid punch down slots, and plenty of wire management tie slots.

It's useful for enclosing structured media
5/5

It is significantly less expensive than the Leviton model. It doesn't quite fit the Leviton 14x14 enclosure I used it in. I screwed it in place on the side against the stud. The only issue I had was that the labels were too small to write on and were easy to punch down. I simply label each run with wire tags.

It is a good deal
4/5

When installed correctly, it performs admirably. For the money, this is a great little patch panel. I agree with the other comments about the need for a deeper mounting bracket, but it does work well when dividing the runs so that 6 feed from each end, as one side of the bracket will not fit all 12 runs. You should have no problems if you use a good punch tool, and if you take the time to punch your runs with the right tools, you should have a lot of success. It worked for me 100% the first time I tried it. If necessary, I would purchase another. It's fantastic!.

For my simple application, it worked perfectly
5/5

For my home installation, this was perfect. I was able to punch down the runs leading to my furnace room wiring closet with ease. I like how the back side is clearly labeled and how the included mounting bracket is simple to attach and detach as I add more runs. br>If I add another panel, I'd like to be able to customize the numbering a little more easily, but that's a minor point.

I used two of these in a recent installation, one for LAN and the other for a PoE camera system
5/5

They were hung in a closet in a Leviton box. Although the holes did not line up with the leviton holes, new holes were drilled to accommodate them. All of the ports are occupied. When used for POE, there are no issues. It's a patch panel, that's what it is
5/5

I'm a student who required this for some zoom-in labs. I was able to punch the wires down after stripping my Cat6 cable (d*** plastic). I got bonus points for using the Cat6 rather than the Cat5, so I'd say everything went well: ) God bless anyone who does professional physical networking; I'd rather be a code monkey!.
