I'm using these to fill in gaps on the backplate of my RTX 3080 FE with full water cooling. Since the backplate is pure aluminum, I will use passive cooling for the electronics on the circuit board (memory, vrm, memory control, etc. ). The fan of my 3080 cranked up to 100% because it was too hot and the VRAM was slowing down. While the VRAM does not have a temperature sensor, my 3080 no longer slows down when mining and does not crank up the fan to the maximum setting after replacing the original thermal pads with these.

The problem is not that this stuff doesn't work, because it does (really, it does!). It's a pretty good board, but very "fragile" and does not appear to be resistant to repeated usage You can position or reuse the item. The material is a little like modeling clay in terms of feel and handling. A typical pad would rebound like this but seems to deform but not return like this. I tried to figure out the best way to position and secure it for my application, but it would tear and crack easily, and pieces kept flaking off regardless of how carefully I handled it. The majority of the time, it will work if it's installed once and forgotten about.

The pads are soft, for the purpose of placing heatsinks on the chips, and they're effective! But they're packaged in what would be the equivalent of a heavy envelope that is barely big enough to hold the pad. A result of this is that all the edges get compressed, making an already small pad even Gelid should add small bends to the cardboard, or even better, create a thick plastic border around the pad to maintain the thickness while cutting the cardboard. Depending on how carefully the package was handled during delivery, you may have to purchase two of the pads (if you need the entire pad for your project).

There are a few cards I use for mining, two of which are EVGA 3080 FTW3s and Asus TUF 3080s. As a result of the EVGA's junction memory temperatures being so high, I decided to buy this and put it on the back of my EVGA card. It worked immediately. My memory junc temperature on my EVGA used to be in the mid to late 90s (never hit 100 degrees but close lol) but now that I added these, my temperatures have dropped to the lower 80s. I highly suggest everyone to add these to their cards as well. It was only necessary to purchase one of these to accomplish the task. There is only one backplate vrm and it is small, but it is enough for the backplate data. My overclock settings are shown in two pictures (I decided to no longer overclock to 100 m/h rather than go for 95-96 m/h but still went for 100) As long as my rig doesn't crash and my card is able to last for 48 hours and I see my uptime (48 hours) as well as my hwinfo with memory junction temperatures, 97 is good enough for me. I have taken the 80s temps of my evga, and the 90s of my asus tuf 3080, both using the same overclock settings, and my asus temps are higher than my evga. However, I don't feel like taking apart the whole card just yet so I don't feel like replacing those pads with these. There is more work involved in getting to the back of the TUF board than with the EVGA.

You will only need three of these thermal pads for this project. The fourth is if you think you may make a mistake however, if you are careful, I don't think you will. They can be quite expensive, so take that into consideration. It is fine to use 3! *When it comes to cutting, it is important to understand that I removed the product from the package, but did not remove the film on either side, and I then put it on a piece of cardboard to prevent any cuts into your surface. When using a razor blade, I found that the edge of the blade worked best to break through and then slide.

The thermal pads are crumbly but not fragile and will break if you put enough force on them. As you can see in the picture I included, my placement wasn't perfect when For one, it's a bit of a pain to have one thermal pad for each box to pay. My GPU expects that the change will prolong its lifespan. I bought it so I can use it on the back of the PCB on my gigabyte 3080 gaming OC so that the memory won't be thermally throttled. . . . and it worked just as well as it should have! I'm not seeing any thermal throttles with the card any longer, and my core temps are also improving quite a bit. I like the ease of use and the ease of cutting/resizing the pads. Overall, they are well made pads that are exactly what you need. The product is 10/10 and I would buy it.
