Yes, this is possible. If you're going to use it for your xb1, I'd recommend the hgst touro 7200rpm external drive, which is made by Western Digital, and you can tell the difference when loading or installing games when compared to the 5400rpm that this hdd has. The passport x or the touro are both excellent hard drives for gaming and data backup. Also keep in mind that if you use it on your xb1, it will need to be formatted for the xbox, and when you switch to your pc, it will need to be formatted as well, so I would only use it for your xb1 or your pc, not both, because you will lose files if you reformat.
There's a USB 3.0 port on it. Because there is no drive, the use is limited to 5400 and 7200 rpm. I can say that it is fast enough that there are no speed issues when playing Xbox One games on it.

The PS4 recognized it right away, and it's been working flawlessly since I plugged it in. It also speeds up the loading of games compared to internal storage. It also has a nice appearance and is small enough to be carried around. I would strongly recommend this drive to anyone looking for a USB-powered 4TB drive!.
After a year, I decided to switch things up and it ended up being a disaster. There is no way to get your money back. On a PC, I was unable to view anything. The light is on and flickering, and the hard drive is making noise, but no data is being lost. I'm so disappointed that I'm thinking about getting a Seagate drive to replace it.

The set- It was incredibly simple to set up; all I had to do was follow the instructions provided by my Xbox One, and POOOOF. mo. mo. storage! Update: I recently sold my Xbox, but I kept the hard drive to use on my PC, and it works great! 🙂.
When I connected it to my PS4, it asked me to format it for extended storage, which took less than 10 seconds. My PS4 pro now has a total storage capacity of 3TB. Great product that arrived in just two days after I ordered it.

I have about 150 games installed and about 830 GB of space remaining on my hard drive. And all of the games I have on it are for the Xbox One. The games come in a variety of sizes. I have somewhere between 20 and 30 40 GB drives. My Xbox 360 backwards compatible games are stored on an external hard drive. As a result, when I go over to my friend's house and plug my external into their system, everything will be fine. I'm aware of the locations of the various games. This is because it is more convenient for me. I don't have to worry about transferring games from my Xbox One's internal hard drive to my external hard drive. I simply take what I need and leave. For three reasons, it prolongs the life of my internal hard drive, and I won't have to worry about it failing soon. Internal drives are more difficult to replace than external drives. Anyone who owns an Xbox One knows how aggravating it is to have to install every game you want to play on the hard drive, which has a finite amount of space. This is the ideal way to keep adding games to your collection without having to worry about which ones will live or die on your hard drive, or playing Russian roulette with the ones you already have to make room for a new one. With an additional 2 TB of storage, I'll be able to comfortably install all of my games with plenty of room to spare. What else can I say except that having enough room for all of your games is exactly why you buy this. The best part is that you won't have to waste time or bandwidth re-configuring your system. Because you ran out of space on your computer, you used this portable drive to download games. I haven't tried it, but you can take the drive with all of your games and play them on someone else's computer without having to download them. With games becoming increasingly space-intensive, internal storage becomes woefully inadequate, necessitating the use of portable devices. I have two of these because my XBOX One alone has nearly 7 Terabytes of game data. For more than 15 years, I've put my trust in WD to store my valuables.
