For years, I've used external HDDs like these with my Xbox s, and the series x games work just like the previous models.

Prior-generation games gain some speed when downloading, but not in a significant way. It's a waste of time to use the SSD with games that aren't officially optimized for X/S. My recommendation is to use a USB external disc for One or 360 games rather than this expansion.

DO NOT BUY if you already own a xbox series x/s. They exaggerated the compatibility of the product. While it can store old games, none of the series x/s games can be played on it. It will display a message stating that the drive is too slow to run it properly. This, in my opinion, is deceptive advertising and improper sales.
So it appears that Microsoft has updated the Xboxes in such a way that many external hard drives are no longer recognized. After a year of flawless service, I assumed my daughter's hard drive had failed because the Xbox suddenly stopped seeing it. I just got a new Seagate drive and I'm having the same problem - It was not recognized by the console. Just to be sure, I bought one that says it's for Series S and the console recognizes it right away. It's clear that this is a Microsoft / console update issue, but until they fix it, you'll have to use this "fancy" one if you want an external drive.
They only need to make a faster version of this storage. I have an Xbox Series S, so my storage is already limited, and I didn't see the point in paying over $200 for Xbox's provided seagate chip drive. Unfortunately, even though this drive claims to be made for X|S (and it isn't lying), it isn't fast enough to play most high-end games. They should try to make a faster plug-in if at all possible. Because the games will only require more processing power from the SSD, they should be installed in drive.
Ok. Isn't it true that I took the package out of the box? "2TB to portable hdd" is written on the box. When I finished setting up the storage (I didn't add anything, so it's currently at 0), I moved on to the next step. 00% full) It says It It It It It It It It It It It It% 8tb. This is a waste of time. It's a complete lie, and it's very irritating and disappointing. However, if you're okay with it, feel free to do so; I'm just letting you know that a 1. A hard drive with an 8-terabyte capacity will set you back $60. 79$. That's all there is to it, so yeah.
It's compatible with the Xbox One S.
However, it continues to function flawlessly. I'm using this for my Xbox Series X, and I'm not sure if it's because of the space required by the base software, or because it was reformatted to fit on my console. However, when I plugged it in and set it up (which took less than 5 seconds), it shows 1. However, it has 8 TB instead of the 2 TB it was supposed to have. The Xbox was supposed to have 1 TB of storage, but it only has 0. Other than that, the product is great. br>br>Other than my little rant there, the product is great. br>br>It's missing 200 gigs from the external hard drive. br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>b It's incredibly simple to put together, and it looks even better in person than it does in the photos.
I would recommend this over a cheaper 3rd party drive because some of the cheaper options aren't formatted in a way that is optimized for games, causing load times to be longer when playing off the drive.
Because the Xbox did most of the work for me, I believe it is critical to purchase an Xbox-specific external hard drive! It also doesn't hurt that it's emblazoned with the Master Chief! Big fan of Halo: Reach:.
