In my opinion, Medium is a good choice
The items I purchased were for my wife, and I think they fit perfectly. The last image or the next to last image that shows the sizing chart for the color that you are interested in can be found by clicking on the colour that you want and scrolling through the images.
There is actually quite a bit of lace on the garment. The issue would not be an issue in my opinion.
XL is the one I would recommend

As hard as I am to sell, I don't give up easily. In the event that there are any problems, I am more than happy to leave a bad review or contact customer service. These are great! I love them! They're cute, light weight, and fit perfectly! Dreamgirl has some white ones that are queen-size and one size fits all they barely brush my knee and will not stay up unless I lose weight, though they do have an elastic band to keep them Nevertheless, they rise about 4 inches above my knees and go all the way to the top Even when I move my leg around or bend my knee, you don't move. The double elastic placeholders likely have something to do with it. My only wish now is that they come in every color. Stockings of this quality would be nice. There is a certain amount of sheerness to these, though not excessively so. The remain upright for a long period of time. In order to fit in a medium, I have to be 5'2" tall and weigh 134 pounds.
As I put them on, they reached slightly higher than my knees and stayed put. More will be purchased by me.
