When worn with regular hiking boots, are these good to wear with socks?

For hiking boots, I would not recommend them. When you walk, the boot moves all around you. It is smooth, so you will not feel it as you walk. You'll need to wear it just above your ankle, a little lower than your boots.

When you have swollen ankles, are they comfortable to wear?

There doesn't appear to be any tightness in the ankles. The fit of my jeans was perfect. I don't have very large legs or ankles, so these fit perfect. Others have been too tight to accommodate my circulation, but these sit low so I don't have that problem.

Is it possible for your socks to fit my wife who has large calves?

This shoe fits me perfectly above the ankle even though I wear a size 10 medium woman's shoe. I love how comfy they are and how they don't move around or cut into my leg at all. My dress pants don't match the hose on my legs, and I hate wearing knee-high hose with my dress pants. The arms were high enough so that when I sat down I do not have to worry about getting my arms caught in.

This is an absolute must-have for me and I will continue to buy it. It would be great if they were still available because I cannot wear traditional cotton socks. Because they feel like they are squeezing my feet, I use these. These are washable and good for a lot of uses without snags as well.
