I weigh 130 pounds and stand 5'5" tall. I usually wear a size small, but this time I ordered a size medium.
It doesn't work like that at all. Boardshorts with liners are not available from surf brands. If you need more coverage, you can always wear a bikini bottom under it.
More akin to board shorts, in my opinion. They're not made of stretchy material like spandex, but instead of spandex, they're made of a more relaxed fit and material similar to that of a kite.

I was going to get a medium, but after reading the reviews, I decided to go up a size, which I am glad I did. It's not too tight. The large was perfect for me because I have a lot of butt/thighs in comparison to my chest and arms.
I bought these for waking boarding and have yet to try them in the water. They've only been worn around the house so far. Due to the lack of a liner, I recommend wearing bikini bottoms with these. As a result, you may want to go up a size, or even another size, simply because they run small. I'm a size 10 and ordered an XL, even though I usually order a large. Everyone told me to size up, but I should have gone two sizes up! They look good in underwear, but they'll look even tighter in a swimsuit. They have a loose fit on the thighs with a slight flare and don't dig in. However, I believe the area around the lady parts is too small. Which will look even worse in a swimsuit. If you're concerned about the waistband being too tight, rest assured that it is extremely loose and will not give you a muffin top! The band also has a drawstring, so you can make sure they fit if you order too large.
When I bought these, I was about 21 weeks pregnant with a small baby bump. Swimming and snorkeling were a breeze in Hawaii! I would normally wear a smaller size such as Medium or even Small, but with the bump, the Large was ideal. I am 5'2" and weighed 130 lbs at the time, and I just tried them on last week at 31 weeks pregnant weighing 140 lbs and they fit perfectly. I'll be swimming in them for the next few weeks, and I'm hoping they'll still fit after I deliver.
For me, it was a perfect fit. Given the numerous reviews stating that the shorts ran small, I ordered a small and a medium. I'm usually a size XS or small (5'2" 1/2 and 113 pounds). The small is adequate, but it could be a little more compact. The scale of the medium was enormous. I suppose I should have just gone with my usual two sizes. Oh well. br>br>I despise anything that cuts into my skin and causes lumps and bumps of any kind. As a result, I've decided to keep things small. I'm not going to bother with the XS because I believe the shorts will be too short for me. I really like how the shorts have a fold-over top. It's very comfortable and doesn't irritate my skin in the least.
BUY! I'm a 50-year-old woman who's in decent shape. Many other board shorts are simply too short, and while they may appear to be acceptable, they are not. I ordered a large (one size up) and they are absolutely perfect. I plan on using them as a coverup, but primarily for exercise, as Las Vegas is far too hot for yoga pants during the summer. All the way down to the hot flashes. Under my running shorts, I despise the nylon granny panties. I'm a picky shopper who knows exactly what she wants. It's perfect.
I bought these shorts to help hide the fact that I had a baby six months ago, but they run a little short. They are made of a stretchy material that allows for a comfortable fit. I purchased a medium because I am 5'5" and 125 pounds. If you're looking for lightweight stretchy active swim shorts that fit well around the waist and bum but are a little short, these are the ones to go with. It's impossible to go wrong with classic black.
These are a pair of very short board shorts that are very cute. I'm 5'9" and 138 pounds, with curvy hips and booty, and the medium is perfect; the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I'm not sure if I'll have to keep readjusting the fold over waist, which could get annoying quickly; I also tried them on without bikini bottoms underneath to see if "commando" would be an option, but it's not for me. For that, the leg holes are too wide, and the middle seam would be extremely uncomfortable. These, on the other hand, will be ideal for adding a layer of coverage to my bikini bottoms.
I'm going to give it a four because it does what I need it to do. They don't look particularly good on you. Maybe I got them a little bigger than I should have, but I'm in good shape. The waist is smaller, the hips are larger, the butt is larger, and the legs are longer. They're a little shorter than I'd like, and they hang in a way that isn't at all clingy, but rather a little wider than I expected. My height and weight are 5'8" and 160 pounds, respectively. I simply wanted to find a modest bathing suit. However, I have yet to use them in the water. If I change my mind about them, I'll post an update.
