Yes. A 20-year-old pair of "regular" lobe earrings is a 20-year-old pair of lobe earrings. These are slightly larger at 21G. If you haven't gauged your ears before, the difference isn't huge, and you can just kind of force them in (the longer edge has a small amount of taper), but if you're unsure or have any internal scarring inside the piercing, I would recommend purchasing a taper tool to assist you.
There's no reason why it shouldn't be possible. You could if you wanted to, but I didn't.

Many people didn't like the fact that the earrings aren't mirrored, as I noticed. I figured out the problem in 30 seconds. One earring's smaller twist should be gently bent to the opposite side. The first photo was taken after I flipped the side on which the small twist was located, and the second photo was taken before I did so. Before you go to a 14g, I strongly advise you to try these. It's very simple to install and it doesn't tangle.
I really like the concept of these, but they're both identical, so one of them is backwards. I really like the design, and they're well-made and haven't irritated me at all.
Surgical steel, on the other hand, claims to be - I've only had it on for one day, but it hasn't bothered my SUPER SENSITIVE ears at all today!.
January 2021 update: br>These are still my favorites! Every now and then, I discover that one of them has escaped while I was sleeping. This is absurd because removing them is a minor annoyance. And because I can't find one right now, I'm placing a new order because I adore them. br>br>I like these a lot. I was surprised at how well they allowed me to sleep with them in my ears! I don't have any stabbing pains in my neck. I've received a lot of positive feedback. My only gripe is that they aren't perfectly symmetrical. I tried putting them in backwards and swapping sides, but this is a minor quibble that could be due to user error. 😆.
I've had these earrings for about a week and they're fantastic! It's so adorable and cozy! The material is also excellent; I have sensitive ears and have had no adverse reactions to the metal. Many people complained that the earring were not mirror image, but I fixed mine by gently bending the smaller end to the opposite side of the earring, as another reviewer suggested. It worked flawlessly! br>br>I've never stretched my lobes or anything, and I found that going from a standard hole to these was perfectly fine; a little uncomfortable for the first hour or so, but my ears adjusted to these just fine, and I'm wearing them without any discomfort now. So if you're worried about these earrings being too big, just go for it! You will not be sorry.
When I was a little girl, I had my ears pierced with sewing needles. Many times, certain earrings would not fit in my left ear because the hole was too small, but after only two weeks of use, my ear has stretched to the point where I can wear thicker earrings without discomfort. I must admit, the first three days were uncomfortable. But now I'm not even aware that I'm wearing earrings. I'm used to wearing them as earring, but they're too cute not to wear as earrings. My daughter has expressed an interest in purchasing a pair.
It's not hard to put on or take off. The gap between "front" and "back" was a little too narrow at first, but they bent easily enough to correct it. My issue is that they are identical, rather than mirroring each other as earrings should.
I like that I can wear dangle/longer earrings without getting them tangled in my long hair. Because I have slightly thicker earlobes, they can be a little tricky to put in, but once in, they don't feel like they're going to fall out like french hooks can. These are so comfortable to wear that I can even sleep in them!.
