Yes. For protection, there is a small velcro strap on the inside of the zipper. These boots are fantastic. This is the second time I've worn these shoes.

The shoe is in excellent condition and required very little break-in time. My only complaint is that my socks fell down the first time I wore them, rubbing my ankles quite badly. I bought some longer socks and wear them every day to work (law enforcement). It's simple to put on and take off. I usually get under armour, but I wanted to save money and try something different this time. While these aren't bad, I think I'll stick with my under armours next time.
I work outdoors all year and usually spend hundreds of dollars on Timberlands, etc. , so I got these to try out something less expensive, and after a month of wearing them, they're still holding up and keeping my feet dry. They are, however, extremely uncomfortable. It has the feel of a ski boot rather than a regular boot. Even with a notch cut in at the ankle, they have no bend and are extremely stiff, which can cause them to dig into your calves due to their height. They're only a few inches long. Your ankle slides up and down but is squeezed from the sides because you are wise but tall in stature. To avoid chafing, I needed to use heel inserts. The goretex, on the other hand, is fantastic.
It was a bit of a letdown. They were stiff as expected, and it took two months for them to break in with regular use. They rubbed my legs so hard during that time that they scarred my legs. Okay, they finally broke in, but the zipper kept catching, and I had to open one side with pliars, and now I can't open the zipper on one boot. I should have tossed them after my legs were torn up, as I had learned the hard way. Positives include: The footbed remained comfortable, and the tread remained excellent.
It is not true to size; if you're going to put an insert in, as most law enforcement officers do, go 1/2 to whole size larger. Arrived promptly, appeared to be in good condition, and was delivered without a box. You are also responsible for the cost of returning the item. You must repackage in a different container in this situation. The package was sent via USPS, and the return label was sent via UPS. That's all there is to it.
I would definitely recommend them!.
Pros: br>True to sizebr>Durablebr>Comfybr>Perfect for the fall and winterbr>br>Cons: br>Zipper frequently gets stuckbr>Lining easily gets damagedbr>Shoes are difficult to remove with sweaty or swollen feet (worse than other boots I've had in the past)br>br>Overall, the boots are great. But I really wish they had laces.
Boots are very comfortable to wear on a daily basis. They're a requirement of my job. The waterproofing aspect is still up in the air.
It only took one day to break in, and because I walk a lot at work, these are ideal for any law enforcement or security situation. Because they are narrow, you should buy wide width if you have wide feet. The soles are extremely comfortable, and I plan to purchase them again!.
