Sorry, but I've never been bitten by one, so I have no idea. I know they keep the sand completely out of it, so maybe that helps?
In the Bahamas, we were able to arrange for them to swim with dolphins. We had to tread water for 30 minutes and swim about 100 yards in them. There were no issues for us. They excelled at walking on rocks, coral-laden sand, and slick surfaces.
These are extremely light and extremely comfortable to walk in. It's as if I'm walking around with no shoes on.
I haven't used them to walk over rocks on a waterfall, but they've handled rocks on banks and in the water during kayaking trips just fine. I haven't had any issues with slipping while wearing these.

Last week, I took a glow polar plunge and used the water shoes for the first time; unfortunately, it was at night, so I didn't get a picture of myself in the water with them. To demonstrate how quickly they drain and allow water in, the bathub did the same. These are far superior to my initial expectations. They were supposed to be flat and without an arch, but they turned out to be anything but. Shoes without an arch cause me problems. That I can walk around for a long time without having any problems, and that they have good grip in wet areas such as climbing rocks. For marathon runners who must run through water and dry, they drain quickly. They are very comfortable to wear. However, if you prefer a close fit, this is the garment for you. Go down a size and walk around in them for a few days to get your ankles used to them. Alternatively, you can use a bandaid, as most new shoes do. They go above and beyond my expectations. The insert is removable and can be washed in the washing machine. If your shoes become dirty, you can also wash them in the washing machine. I hope the photos and video prove to be useful. I take walks as well. That's when I put on socks. They're one of my favorites because your feet don't get too hot in them. Oh, and during the plunge, I also went in the snow with these. It's one of my favorites because the snow never gets inside the shoes. br>br>Update: They are extremely comfortable shoes. But don't expect them to be worn on a daily basis. The glue is beginning to separate from the top of the sole in small amounts. However, they are comfortable in other ways, and I wish they could make non-water shoes without holes in the bottom. It will get your feet wet on the bottom if you wear it outside in slightly damp grass. I think I'd go down a size. For the glue, I deducted a star. However, it is cozy.
There's enough room. The top of the shoe has a Velcro flap to help secure it, and the sole wraps around your toes sufficiently to provide extra strength and protection. I tried a different, less expensive brand, but it was not as good as these. A few dollars more would be worth it. I'm going to buy more colors so that they can dry out in between uses. Two times a day, I go to water aerobics. I have wide feet, and the toe box was large enough for me, and the rest of the shoe was perfect, with plenty of stretch. An 8 is my size. I'm a size 5 wide, and that size in women's clothing is perfect for me. Sock liner can be removed to aid in drying.
For my 8 year old, I bought the light grey/orange size 40. For a backpacking trip that included 14 rocky river crossings, I wore a size 5 shoe. With a weight of 418g (14. As I was trying to keep my gear UL, this was definitely heavier than I'd like to carry. However, I preferred this to going barefoot. There are five main reasons to wear water shoes with a sock style: 1) foot stability, 2) toe protection and comfort, 3) hard bottom to prevent punctures from sticks and rocks, 4) water drainage, and 5) quick drying br>br>As I watched my fellow hikers struggle to cross the slick/jagged rocky rivers barefoot or in your typical open toe sandals, I realized how glad I was that I chose this shoe because I was able to do so almost painlessly. Even on underwater rocks, the soles had a lot of grip, and they DEFINITELY protected my feet when I slipped and had to catch my footing. We were on a peninsula at one point during our hike and decided not to change out of our water shoes for about a mile, walking on rocks, fallen sticks, and crossing over dead trees. I also liked how the semi-autonomous system worked. Sand didn't get in because of the permeable fabric; otherwise, I would have developed blisters on that mile stretch. The hanging loop on the back of the shoe was very strong and could be clipped on my pack, swung side to side, and leaned on without showing any wear or loose stitching. When the shoe is wet, it is difficult to remove and replace, but this assures me that it will not slip as easily as a sock style might. My toes were able to spread out comfortably without rubbing hot spots because the toe box is spacious enough. The design is excellent because it is simple yet sporty, and it does not scream for attention. br>br>Some criticisms include the fact that the heel entry area is not flush/vertical with the sole, resulting in some odd spacing in the heel. In addition, the insole easily slips out, especially when wet and while slipping the shoe on/off, causing the front of the insole to bunch up and require frequent readjusting. Although it did not dry as quickly as I had hoped (a few hours in the sun), it was sufficient to ensure that they were dry the next day. I did notice that some of the rubber areas that seal around the bent part of the shoe were showing signs of wear after this one trip; I did, however, hike a few miles in some difficult terrain. br>br>Overall, I think this was a good buy, but if I ever need to replace them, I'll look into other brands that have better quality control in their manufacturing process to avoid weird heel space.
As a result, my feet are a size 9 1/2. I'm going on a cruise in November, and we'll be doing beach excursions, and I've read that getting into the water can be difficult. I wanted to buy something that I could put on. I honestly took a chance and figured I'd just return them if they didn't fit my large feet. I was nervous when the package arrived, but I put them on anyway. Because of how comfortable they are, I honestly believe I could wear them anywhere! My foot fit perfectly in this shoe, with plenty of room to spare. WHAT? I'm completely smitten, and if I ever lose them, I'll be sure to replace them. They arrived early and are exactly as described. They are also very comfortable.
However, now that I've worn them, I really like them. They're either water socks or shoes, depending on where you're from in the country! I'm not sure what you're expecting, but they're a lot better than the Walmart crap. I bought them for a day at the beach, but now I wear them as my lake house shoes. They let air get to your feet, so you can keep them on without sweating too much. Low odor. And putting them on is a breeze. When I first bought them, I was skeptical, but now I'm in love with them and plan to buy more.
I don't like wearing shoes or flip flops on the beach, so I bought these and they're perfect. My regular shoe size was ordered, and they fit perfectly without any issues. These shoes look great with pool/beach outfits, in addition to serving their purpose. I walked in these shoes for a while and found them to be comfortable, but I don't think they'll be useful in wet conditions. The material's quality appears to be excellent as well.
These shoes are perfect for me. On my foot, they appeared to be quite attractive. I'm a size 9 and swim shoes aren't particularly flattering on my figure. They're also extremely comfortable. I wore them in the ocean and while walking down the strip. I'll buy more in the future because it was such a good deal.
