Nimbus has the most cushion out of all the Asics, I believe. you plan on wearing the Kayano exclusively for shift work in health care, it's not the best I would recommend buying a Nimbus with the money. Get yourself a Cumulus if you're looking for a high-performance running shoe, not essentially a jogging shoe. This is a 12-hour shift for me and I work healthcare. Buying an 8 because I am an 8 is the best thing I have ever done. Since my toes are at the end of the shoe, I could have worn an 8 1/2 if I had wanted.

The toe box of odd Nimbus years is too narrow for me, so I do not like them. I found the 18s to be the most rewarding. Finally, everything came together! The heel pain I was suffering from (plantar fasciitis) finally disappeared. The arch area of this shoe is very supportive and it has the right amount of cushion under the heel as well. The fact that I am a Neutral runner always means that I am in constant search of shoes that don't alter my pronation in some way, and boy, am I ever conscious of even the tiniest changes.
