There are 4 inches between the side and the front. Two and three quarters inches are measured from the center to the front.
The tag I have handy for checking doesn't tell me how to wash caps, but I know you can do that in the dishwasher and it works very well. I hope that helps.

Upon arrival the package was We received this in crushed condition. Wavy hair is permanently affixed to the back of the bill. Because it didn't come with a protective cardboard insert, and arrived in a crinkly condition so it looks cheap, compared to other hats. It would be ridiculous, at least.
It was purchased for a costume (80's Waluigi, if you're wondering), and it was a perfect fit. I like the canvas because- The fabric appears to be good quality, and the color is as vibrant as the photo online. This is not a sun hat style, but rather a sporty style, which means the bill is somewhat narrow and will only shade your eyes, but not protect your sides of your head. There is one thing that is not apparent from the photo or description, which is that the hat can be adjusted via hooks - The back of the hat has hook-and-loop tape (velcro) that adjusts, which works great, and it can fit my relatively small head, but it also can be made to go down pretty large to accommodate larger hats (although those with large heads might have problems). Generally, I think it was a good deal for the $6 I spent on.
A maroon and a white one caught my eye and I fell in love immediately! Colors and lighting were excellent and the photos showed life just as it was!

Exactly what I was looking for! The glare from overhead lights was giving me headaches while working at my computer, so I wore it while at work. There wasn't a black visor I could find for my suit. There are plenty of templates with logos or words, but I didn't want them. I like how well it fits and how secure the velcro is. This hat has protected me from wind and from water on several windy days as well as on a small boat. I notice the visor is a bit larger than other visors I've owned in the past In other reviews, it has been noted With its visor bill, this hat looks more like a baseball cap, which I like. I returned to the store to purchase a second one to store in my beach bag, since I had a hard time locating a visor that is plain black and fits. The price is good as well.
