It's made of hardboard (a material that's halfway between heavy cardboard and wood) with a designer paper overlay that's been laminated. In terms of construction, it's closer to press wood than hardwood (most jewelry boxes aren't because of warping).

It's a gift, and it was well-packaged to ensure safe delivery. It appears to be sturdy, but only time will tell; it's a good size and appears to be exactly as shown in the picture. br>br>I was also able to obtain an adorable necklace set, as well as some adorable bracelets and rings, which I displayed in the jewelry box.
The top has hinges, and the ballerina appears to be working for the time being, but the front door to the necklace area does not. The laminate sticker overlay keeps it in place, but I expect it to be damaged in a matter of weeks. The necklace carousel and drawer handles, on the other hand, are made of gleaming plastic. It appears to be of poor quality, which is disappointing given the price; however, it is attractive and functional. I just don't think it'll last long.
My daughter adores this jewelry box because it is so lovely. My only criticism is that it should be a little taller so that necklaces can properly hang on the rack. Hers all drag on the bottom, preventing the wheel from spinning properly. However, it is still one of the best boxes for little girls that I have seen.

When I first read the description, the cardboard part put me off, but I went ahead and bought it anyway, and I'm so glad I did! It's a good size, and the pictures are cute! THIS IS A ONE-TIME OPENING! I can't imagine how these cheap items would stand up to a child who would want to open and close the lid many times in order to hear and see the ballerina! The item is of poor quality; the small screws that held the hinges were stripped, and there is nothing substantial to screw them into in order for them to stay in place! I'm enraged and dismayed that Amazon sells such low-cost goods!.
It has drawers large enough to hold her bracelets and hair accessories, and the door opens to reveal a mirrored back with a revolving claw-footed stool. Necklace hanger, for example. The box received a lot of positive feedback. I'll tie a ribbon around the lid to keep it in place and limit how far it can tilt back because the hinge could easily come loose if her curious little brother decided to put it to the test!.
To begin with, instead of wood screws, the lid is attached with thin machine screws. On Christmas Day, they stripped out of the material within the first eight hours of having it. It was a huge let down. Second, the box is made entirely of paper over a low-cost fiber board. In our experience, this is not a situation that will last a lifetime or even a day. If you really want it, you can get it for $24 at Sears. 00 instead of $38. 00 here.
This jewelry box is very nice, and the padding in the drawers helps to protect your jewelry. It is also very soft. I bought this for myself because it reminds me of my younger days when I had a much smaller one. Who says we have to buy this for little girls only? Big girls, if you want to go back to your childhood, I say go for it! You won't be sorry because the colors are so soft and pretty!.
