I'm wearing a pair of blue jeans with a 34" waist and a 30" length. I purchased a medium and am confident they will fit your son. There's about 10" of leg left after I've zipped them up to my waist. I've dragged the rest of the items above my feet.
I'm 5'10" and weigh 170 pounds. On blue jeans, I have a 34 waist and a 30" inseam. I purchased a Medium size, and they are very comfortable. I have 10" of fabric to pull over my feet because the legs are so long.
Small. br>Size small is for men who have a waist measurement of 28 to 30 inches.

It's comfortable, but it's not particularly warm. They're incredibly light. You can see straight through them if you hold them up in front of you. They aren't the warmest thing on the planet, but they are extremely comfortable. I use these as a base layer for riding my bike on colder nights in Florida (I know, cold is a relative term, but I'm not used to temperatures below 50 degrees). They do a good job of keeping me warm without making me miserable by the time I reach the halfway point of the ride.
I'm baffled as to how this product received such high ratings. Take a look at the image I've attached. You can see right through the fabric due to its thinness. It just isn't going to work. I intend to return. This is not something I would recommend.
At a membership box store, I picked up a pair of these (OK, not exactly, as I discovered). I decided to get some more because they were so nice. From this point forward. Oops. The reviews that say the material is thin are correct - it is extremely thin. These look exactly like the store's more fleecy ones (which I can't find because it's not the season yet). They're not, however. Material mix that isn't the same for everyone - The others are a little thicker and have rayon in them. These are also suitable for people who are a little bit smaller. They're fine; they insulate a little, but they're not as good as the others in the store.
I can't say enough good things about this product; it feels great against the skin. I went for a bike ride this morning with the wind chill at 19 degrees, and I was perfectly comfortable.
I don't want to be cold if I have to be outside for an extended period of time in cold weather. So, before I put on the rest of my clothes, I put on a pair of these (along with the matching top). They're light and easy to wear, and they keep you warm.
Warmth and comfort are excellent, but they could be a little thicker because a couple of pairs have ripped in the crotch.
I'm taking two blood thinners and recently relocated from Florida to Ohio. Up near Lake Erie, the weather can be bitterly cold. These were a gift from my brother-in-law's wife. I made the decision to try them out. They are my favorite. They are very comfortable and fit well under any clothing. Because they are so close to your skin, no one can tell you're wearing them. They are without a doubt someone I would recommend.
These aren't very good at keeping you warm. I wore them in 25 degree weather in Minnesota, which I consider to be nice winter weather, and they made no difference. I'm not sure how useful they'd be.
