Although this hat is not water resistant, I wore it to the beach and pool both in and out of the water throughout the summer. It stayed on my body the entire time. It has faded slightly due to the salt and sun, but it is still usable after a day in the surf. br>br>I have an O'Neal hat in a similar shape, but the material is more synthetic (Quicksilver is more canvas/cotton like), and the O'Neal color is still black. The O'Neal sheds water better as well, but it isn't completely waterproof. br>br> I prefer the Quicksilver because the rim is slightly larger, providing me with a little extra sun protection.
The black should not be purchased. With moderate use, it faded rapidly in under two months. Color fades in light sweat, and it faded even in non-sweaty situations. areas where you sweat

I'm bald and pasty white, and I live near the beach in Southern California. Because I spend so much time outside, the sun is constantly attempting to kill me. It isn't one of those old man floppy hats, but it is unmistakably a white person hat. This is another example of Quicksilver's high-quality products. I'm the goofy one, not the hat, but it fulfills my needs and looks good. I'm not ashamed to admit it.
When you're wearing this hat, you'll almost certainly catch fish 10/10. The skills of the father improve by 45%.
Fits as expected, but after receiving the hat, I hand washed it and dried it, causing color bleed and fading. Although the hat was hand washed and air dried as directed on the label, it appears to have already spent a season at the beach. I don't mind because it'll be worn in the sun and at the beach, but I had hoped for more from quicksilver. I've been using their gear for years, whether surfing, at the beach, or at work. This is the first time I've ever had one of their products do this, so it could be a one-time occurrence. If you have to wash your black bush hat by hand, I hope it comes out better. Otherwise, it's a great hat, and I'm sure I'll be wearing it a lot. On the plus side, it now appears to be a well-worn beach hat?.
Hat in the fashion of This boonie hat is perfect for me. My 11-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter can both wear it because the fit is perfect. My neck and eyes are protected by the brim of the hat; It's the perfect balance of length and width, not too short like a Dixie Cup (aka USN or Gilligan cap) and not too long like a sombrero, in my opinion. The thread appears to be of good quality, and the material appears to be durable. I'm not sure if it'll fade, but I'm hoping it won't because I like a worn-in look. This hat has been worn while kayaking, fishing, and strolling around our neighborhood. It was so popular with my family that we had to order a second one.
These were purchased for a trip in honor of my daughter's 16th birthday. These "dad hats" were a hit with the girls, and it didn't hurt that they kept the sun off their heads. I purchased L/XL by mistake, but they fit perfectly and were worn the entire trip.

Love it! The hat is attractive and has held up well on the boat and at the beach.
As a present, I chose a large/xlarge. It's too small, which is unfortunate because it's a lovely hat. The individual is of normal height and weight. This hat would normally fit other large/xlarge hats, but it was too small for this one. What a pity!.
