On this jacket, the hood does not stow away.
The hood isn't removable because it's sewn into the jacket. The jacket is a well-made, comfortable raincoat with a light lining.
Yes, draw strings are used to keep the hood in place.
I've had no issues with it, and I'd say it's waterproof.
Selected User Reviews For Columbia Men's Glennaker Lake Lined Rain Jacket,
When I bought this jacket, I was so frustrated by the other reviews that I decided to write this review. Everyone else was eager to tell you what size they bought, but not your weight or height, so you couldn't really help. My husband is 6'0" and weighs 210 pounds, so a large fits him perfectly. The jacket is wind, rain, and cold resistant and has a thick lining. People, that is how a review is written.
Great jacket that I purchased to replace a Columbia jacket that was similar in style. This one has the potential to be even better - I liked the previous one as well - because it is lined with a thin layer of fleece for extra warmth I ordered a Large because I'm 5'10" and weigh 198 pounds, and the fit was perfect.
In comparison to a windbreaker, it has a liner. Two zippered pockets can be found on the outside. A chest pocket can be found on the inside. A chord at the bottom of the jacket can be tightened to keep the wind from getting inside. br> I prefer a hood that can be tucked inside or removed, but this one lacks that feature. br> Aside from that, this is a great rain jacket for the money.
This jacket, in my opinion, isn't particularly noteworthy. It held up well in light rain, but given the tag's claim of "water resistance," I wouldn't trust it for all-weather use. protection during the day It's lined, but it doesn't provide much warmth. In today's 40° weather, I wore it with two light long-sleeved tops. I was a little chilly because I was wearing long-sleeved layers. I'd wear something warmer or a heavy sweater layer underneath this if the temperature dropped below 40 degrees. It appears to be in good condition. It's well-made and light enough to fit into a pack or golf bag with ease. It has a four-star rating.
I really like this jacket and am glad I bought it. I like how the exterior fabric feels and how it isn't as noisy as many other rain jackets I've purchased in the past; however, I'm only giving it four out of five stars for one reason. Cloth is used to line the hood. My hair is styled on a daily basis. As one might expect, I wear this jacket to work, but I have to be careful when removing the hood because it can easily mess up my hair. I understand that this does not apply to everyone, but it does to me.
This jacket was purchased specifically for backpacking, where every ounce counts. The weight of 14 ounces was one of the factors that influenced my decision to buy it. I put the jacket on the scale as soon as I opened the package to see how much it weighed in real life. I always expect a difference of an ounce or two, but this one weighed in at 20 ounces, which was 6 ounces more than it was listed at. It also appears to be quite frail, as if it won't withstand a heavy downpour. br>br>It fit perfectly, was reasonably priced, and I adore the lining, but the weight difference is a deal breaker for me. To see how it holds up in the rain, I'll have to put it on. If it holds up, I'll have to find another way to trim some pounds from my pack. This puts me over my base weight of 17 pounds, which I don't want to be.
As stated in the description, there is a hood that can be taken off. I needed a stowaway hood, but the hood is attached to the back of the jacket and there is no way to fold or roll it into the collar or anywhere else. It must be attached to the back of the collar at all times.
I got it for a good price and it looks nice, but for two reasons, I don't like it very much:
- Putting my hands in the pockets feels like nails on a chalkboard because the pocket liner is extremely uncomfortable and scratchy. It just makes you feel bad.
- I don't like how the hood and collar complement each other. It'd be preferable if the collar was not present at all.
