This is a good idea, according to me. High-quality snap hardware is used in the snaps. This is brass in color. My hands find it relatively easy to squeeze, but the snap hinge is exposed, so you will be pinching metal, but that does not hurt. If it is too stiff, you can always use two hands to squeeze it or use one hand to pry, the other to press. Although I can understand why they left it exposed, I wish it had leather over that area to make it more comfortable. As time goes by, the leather will wear out.
