The bag I purchased is designed to carry a laptop computer and lunch, as well as the contents of a small purse. It is the perfect choice for that purpose. The large central pocket I wanted was more pleasing to me than the multiple medium-sized pockets The laptop backpack I was using had the same compartment size as my old laptop bag. I could fit gym shoes and maybe a workout shirt in the central pocket, if I had the laptop in there. Clearly, it's too small to be a gym bag. (I'd have to remove the laptop, any other items, and my workout clothes and shoes if I wanted to fit those in it. )
In the description, it says there's a side pocket that can hold a water bottle, but I wouldn't put a water bottle in it. There is a pocket on the side that is the right size for a cell phone, wallet, and keys, but I wear my bag on the subway and I wouldn't trust the other riders not to take advantage of it. A person behind me could easily get into the front and side pockets without my knowledge, and I don't like to ride the train with my bag in front of me or on wet and muddy surfaces. That leaves the pockets empty, because I don't want them to collect mud. Small sundries can be stored in the interior pockets, such as my company ID badge, breath mints, band-aids, etc. I also usually keep my normal small purse in the bottom of the bag for more organization, which is nice on weekends when I am not using my laptop. This backpack is small without being a purse, looks great, has a decent amount of internal organization without compromising storage space, and has a reasonable amount of interior organization. This would not make an ideal security bag if you have to carry it around I have commuted for a month and the material doesn't seem to have been damaged. You can wipe it off easily and it A resistant material Materials for luggage that have been treated. I love how the bag handles well and is a great bag for a commuter.
