As a backpack, it fits great and it's very well made. There's no way to make it look good. That's why I returned it since it looks like the free laptop bag your IT person is always carrying around with their Dell XPS machine.
The Mystery Ranch bag was one of five that I have and I was expecting good things from it as well. Having been eyeing it for quite some time, I have finally got to it. Upon receiving it, I discovered that the laptop section is angled at both ends and not as wide as they claim it is and would not fit my 15" laptop. You must use the side handles when the backpack mode is in effect, as the top handle is not available. A product similar to this is made by Timbuk2, and I also own one called the Ace. The Ace is much better designed and large.
