Until it is washed or worn! Because of the mislabeled fabric content, I'm dropping from 5 to 1 star. I strongly disagree with the tag that it is 100% cotton. The pilling was already there after washing (the balled up lint) and when I compare the feel and look to 100% cotton shirt there is a clear difference between 100% cotton shirt and% It's a shame that we can't even count on accurate product labeling. Look at this illustration: The darker blue shirt is made 100% of cotton, while the red and lighter blue tank tops are: It's easy to see the difference in texture. Tanktops have a good look before washing and wearing, and you can't tell there's poly in them unless you touch them and compare how they feel to real cotton. Polyester's main feature, on the other hand, is that it makes your clothes look old and worn even before they've been washed, yikes! Another reason for a one-star rating is that the trim is coming undone and thread is dangling from seams, indicating that not only is the fabric mislabeled, but the sewing is also in poor condition. These are soft and adorable, but the straps are ridiculously long. So that my daughter's entire upper torso does not hang out of the top, I'll have to have my mother shorten them.
Only the straps that cross over the shoulders are a little too long or loose, so I had to stitch them up a finger width. Apart from that, when washed, there was no shrinkage or stretching.
