This item was purchased in July for my five-year-old granddaughter. 40 lbs. as well as being 36 inches tall and slim. It was a good match for her.br> She wore it over the weekend, and it fits her well, though it is a little short for her as she grows taller. At the very least, I'd go for a size 6 or 6x.

I usually purchase a size 7 for my daughters, but after reading some of the reviews, I went up to an 8 and it fit perfectly. My daughters are of average build; they are not thin, but neither are they heavy. If they had been petite, a size 7 would have been appropriate.

These were okay, but I didn't care for the distressing. I don't think 'fashionably ripped' denim is appropriate for a 4 and 7 year old.

It's so adorable! My daughter is almost 7 years old and weighs around 50 pounds; we ordered a size 7 and it fits perfectly, with attached shorts that aren't too short.

What a waste of time. The distressed look is awful, and it appears that the denim has been painted. Do not make a purchase.

I bought this skort in a size 7 for one granddaughter, but the other granddaughter loved it so much that I had to order it in a size 4

If you're between sizes, go up one (or two)

The skirt was a size 7 when I bought it, and after one wash, it shrank to a size 5 (I tried to hang it to dry, but it was too late). It was a hit with my daughter, and it's very cute, but order a size up.

My daughters practically live in them, so I bought two. Because today's girls skirts are much shorter than I prefer, the shorts underneath provide coverage. The elastic isn't too tight around their waist, and the color complements their outfit. They're fantastic.

These are fantastic in general. The elastic waistband and shorts underneath are my favorite features. The only drawback is that after washing, the seam always folds up.
