A typical size 7 youth fits my child, while a size 10/12 usually fits my child comfortably. this in a 10/12 kid size and it fits fine. The waist tends to run small so you might want to try two sizes bigger if you want room to grow into. There are belt loops on the inside of the pants I would have used if the waist area was loose.
